The film opens with the survivor of the first film getting slaughtered by Jason. Yup, Jason it pissed off! He saw his mother get be-headed and it's time to get some revenge. Odd that throughout the first film Jason was apparently just hiding around and he decided not to straighten his mom out. Oh well...
A group of counselors are returning to "Camp Blood" to do some sort of counselor training seminar. They're not actually at "Camp Blood" (aka Camp Crystal Lake) because it has been condemned. No, instead of being at "Camp Blood" there around 5 to 10 feet away from it (at least). Of course Jason is pissed off for people invading his turf so he starts off'ing the counselors one by one.

They beat the shit out of Jason and stab him with a machete. Just when they think they're safe Jason comes flying through the window and pulls one of them out. It's pretty cool because we get the first glance at Jason's face. It's amazing how hacked up the poor guy gets throughout all the films. From this point the film ends with the girl being carried off in a stretcher and the guy (the other part of the two survivors) is no where to be seen (we never do find out if he died)
Part 2 was a pretty good film. There are a few things I like about it. First, we get to see Jason's home. Even though he stuck living in the wilderness he manages to make a nice cozy home for himself. We get a grand tour of the place after a policeman tries to chase down Jason. And, of course, we see the shrine that holds his mothers head.
I found this film to be a little scarier than the first one. While the first one had the advantage of no one knowing who the killer was, this one just had a creepiness about it that got to me. I can't really explain it. Perhaps knowing the killer was Jason and knowing what he's been through made it scarier for me. http://www.horrordvds.com/reviews/a-m/f13th2/f132_shot3s.jpg (http://www.horrordvds.com/reviews/a-m/f13th2/f132_shot3l.jpg)
Another incredible job done by Paramount on this film. Colors were perfect just as the first one. This one is going to get a slight poorer grade than the first but only for a few small reasons. There appeared to be a little more speckling in this film than the first. There was also one scene where for just a second or two the entire image had a pinkish tint to it. What can I say...I'm picky.
Update: Some users have asked me to indicate where exactly this pinkish scene is. It's at the very beginning of Chapter 7 - there's a shot of everyone on the porch for 5 seconds or so and for about a second the image turns pinkish/red and then goes back to normal. See, I told you I'm a picky bastard.
Just like the first film, the original mono soundtrack is all that is included. Again, sound was acceptable but I would've liked a remix.

I should be telling myself that just getting the film with a remastered transfer should be extra enough...that just doesn't work for me though.
Gorgeous transfer to a great film. Only things I would've liked to have seen were DD5.1 remix. As I mentioned earlier this one creeped me out a little and I truly enjoyed watching it. It's definitely a title that I'll be keeping in my collection. Just like the first Friday the 13th on DVD, you're not going to find a better release of Friday the 13th Part 2. Any Jason fan should definitely add it to their collection.
