No matter how many times I have watched these movies, during the last 30 years, I never get tired of them. I wish we had a modern day filmmaker, with the same kind of balls, to linger on the gore and violence
Fulci's Zombie was the movie that crossed me over to the other side. I have very fond memories about watching his movies for the first or 10th time haha. I've seen most of them movies, except Contraband,Conquest and Demonia. I guess its time I get watching again.
Fulci is the Italian Godfather of Gore hands down, I've seen them all and love them all. Here's hoping they release an updated transfer of House by the Cemetery sometime soon to replace that outdated Blue underground release.
I also hope that we get a 4K scan of The Beyond. The Grindhouse disc looks pretty good. But it’s still an old transfer, with a mild layer of Scanner noise, so there is still room for improvements.
Thanks for sharing - this has put Conquest on my radar! Speaking of Fulci, I wonder what happened to Scorpion's release of City of the Living Dead? I know it may be sacrilegious, but I wasn't exactly blown away by Arrow's recent release (I usually love them, don't hate me). The old scan BU used may have that ugly scanner noise, but the Arrow appears slightly softer, and for me, it lands somewhere between slight upgrade and sideways trade.
There were problems with the scan that Italy provided, Walt rejected it and it's being redone I believe.
I compared both and the BU release looks tons better, even with the sharpening they had done. The Arrow colors looked awful and the picture is flat out too soft. I think if most people looked at these two renditions side by side, like I was able to, they would be real disappointed in Arrow's work on this. The packaging is really good, though!!
