On the twenty-eigth day of October:

Shallow Ground - I was anticipating a very bad movie, since I think I've never heard of it before, and the dvd case at the video club made me think (I'm not sure why) of those of Ghost Lake and S.I.C.K (brrrrr... what an horrible movie), but it wasn't that bad. In fact, it was pretty good - far from great, but still very enjoyable

    October 29th:

Death Trap aka Eaten Alive (Tobe Hooper)

Never seen this one before and the DVD is transferred from a really lousey VHS source, but damn I enjoyed this movie a lot! Think I'll have to hunt down a better version of this one.

I ain't watchin' shit. I'm going out and getting all crazy!

I may watch FEMALE TROUBLE or some other anti-social type flick to get me in the mood. I find it much easier to tolerate "bar folk" if I fantasize about hurting them.

    Oct. 29: The Prowler

I've seen this many times and always enjoy it.

If I didn't know any better I'd say that The Prowler and Friday the 13th Part 2 were written by the same people. Some of the scenes in both are strikingly similar.

Surnom - I totally agree with Shallow Ground. The cover art had me worried but it turned out to be really good. I guess my pick tonight is Santa's Slay since I'm watching it on TV... I may need to watch a few more to get this out of my memory.

Man, have I been slacking off with my Halloween-viewing or what? At least yesterday (October 29th) I popped in the "Book of the Dead"-version of Evil Dead 2 and Halloween 2 with some friends.

October 29th: At the cinema - "Horror of Party Beach", "Nightmare in Blood" (quite ambitious and the ultra '70's vibe rocked me, "Fearless Vampire Killers" odd, but fun flick.
On DVD after getting home from the horror fest - "Bride of Frankenstein".

On the twenty-ninth day of October

Phantasm 2 - Still can't get into that series...
Strangeland - I would consider this more suspense than horror, but ok movie
Karmina - Very funny vampire comedy, for quebecois french-speaking anyway. It would lose a lot if translated, especially all that pseudo-romanian language which is probably the funniest part of the movie

    Freddy vs. Jason

First viewing and I enjoyed it, which surprised me not being a great fan of the Friday the 13th and only really liking about three of the Nightmare on Elm Street films, which are the original, Dream Warriors, and New Nightmare.

What did you think of Ju-Rei? I've been pretty curious about that one.

I gave it 2.5/5, and that was likely me being generous because I like Asian ghost stories. It blantantly rips off several other more established Asian movies, and yet has no real center to call its own. Still, it is short enough that I felt no worse for wear for netflixing it, and at least one scare sequence sort of worked.
