    Hey all,

I just wanted to get the word out to any New England Hammer and monster movie fans that the horror host show I work on (as does fellow board member Maybrick -- SATURDAY FRIGHT SPECIAL) will be presenting a rare 35mm screening of Hammer Films' classic BRIDES OF DRACULA at the historic Colonial Theatre in Keene NH on Saturday, October 24th at 7PM. This will be our third "Spooktacular" event, following our previous screenings of THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES and KING KONG VS. GODZILLA.

In addition to the main feature, we'll have vintage Hammer and other monster movie trailers, prize giveaways (including a pile of Anchor Bay Blu-ray discs and an original sketch by comic artist S.R. Bissette), live brides of Dracula in the theater, appearances by our show's (SATURDAY FRIGHT SPECIAL) cast on stage, and more.

Plus, free glow-in-the-dark vampire fangs for the first 50 patrons!

Tickets are $10 and are available at the Colonial Theatre box office, or online at http://thecolonial.tix.com/Event.asp?Event=210404

From what I've been told by other theaters who've run this print of BRIDES, it's a stunner, and should be even moreso when splashed across the Colonial's giant screen. Personally, I can't wait to see this on the big screen myself.

Here's a poster drawn for this event by monster artist Sean Hartter:

Great to see you on the board, Mark. Quick Question, though: How do you keep track of all of the aliases you use on message boards? I don't believe I've ever seen you use the same one twice. Too funny.

More than you'll see on screen, as there are no brides nor Dracula in this movie.

Terrible title for a fantastic film. Wish I could see it in 35mm

Awesome! I guarantee that it'll definitely be worth the trip, if only for the 20 or so minutes of vintage trailers before the movie. It remains to be seen, though, exactly how our werewolf host will take it when he finds out that there will be real live vampire brides on the scene. I don't want to call Scarewolf a racist, but he does have a bit of a tendency to rant and rave and foam at the mouth about them with little or no provocation. Hopefully he won't boycott the proceedings altogether!

To add to the gory-ous goings on that weekend, the Keene State College Film Society will be showing the French creep classic DIABOLIQUE in 35mm, Friday at 7+9PM and Sat/Sun at 2/7/9PM. So you could, in theory, hit DIABOLIQUE at 2 and BRIDES at 7. More info at http://www.keene.edu/putnam/films.cfm

Also, S.R. Bissette (SWAMP THING, TABOO, TYRANT) will be appearing with fellow comic artist (and some-time horror host) Denis St. John at a book signing at Comic Boom in Keene (just up the block and around the corner from the Colonial Theatre) earlier in the day on the 24th (late morning to late afternoon) to sign copies of THE VERMONT MONSTER GUIDE (illustrated by Bissette) and MONSTERS & GIRLS (by St. John), as part of a cross-promotion with the Spooktacular. Details can be found as they develop at http://srbissette.com

AND, nearby Brattleboro Vermont will be hosting the annual Vermont Samurai-Kaiju Festival that weekend as well, with film and TV screenings, video game competitions, lectures and more. They're set to run two of the newer Gamera films on Sunday, though their promo blurb thanks Media Blasters for the films, so I'm thinking it might be video projection, which personally I could care less about. If it turns out to be 35mm though, I'm all over it.

Check this out -- this is one of three (!) original sketches that Stephen R. Bissette is donating for us to give away tomorrow night. This one is based on an entry in THE VERMONT MONSTER GUIDE:
