I wouldn't really worry about it, 88 Films releases almost always seem to get pushed back as far as the release dates go. They'll come out though.

Nice! I already own the German Blu-ray, but it's a keeper for the package and soundtrack CD.

If 88 Films utilizes the same transfer, it'll look great.

Oh, boy - this is a big PASS for me. They seem to be getting only titles that have already had releases somewhere. I had that Anchor Bay Boogey Man DVD which I ended up giving away because I couldn't bear watching another minute (same with SCALPS). Just God awful movies.

I really like The Boogey Man and think it has a great atmosphere. I do agree with you on Scalps though. Horrible movie

88Films mentioned on Facebook that they will now be region locking Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. The Amazon listing still says All Region Codes though. I had it pre-ordered, but looks like I will have to cancel and order the Retromedia US version. :(

This definitely has me worried though. I pre-ordered most of their upcoming releases, in fact I already sold off my DVDs of Slaughterhouse, The Dead Next Door, Scalps, and Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. :nervous:

Also noticed several release date shifts, many of them moving forward. For instance, Slaughterhouse is now slated for February 23rd.

This has me worried too :nervous: I have a couple of them pre-ordered too. I just got the Retromedia version of Hollywood Chainsaw but would of liked to maybe get both:( oh well.

You guys own to yourselves to get a region free player. I did a few months back and it has been a revelation.

You're totally right but I just can't bring myself to do that again. I have a NTSC/PAL DVD player and I just want all my discs region free or A to play on my cheap regular Blu player. I'm lazy.

I asked 88 Films about the region coding on their upcoming release, and they got back to me right away. Love this company!

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and Scalps will both be region locked. However, Retromedia is releasing them in the US. HCH is currently available, Scalps should be coming soon.

Zombi Holocaust and Burial Ground will also be locked.

But the rest of their upcoming genre slate is region free:
    Slaughterhouse
    Don't Go In The Woods
    The Boogeyman
    Splatter University
    The Dead Next Door

I cancelled my pre-orders of the 4 locked titles. I even combined my orders of The Boogeyman and Splatter University, although I left Slaughterhouse in an order by itself since the price had dipped lower than the current price. Can't wait to get these!

And best of all, my favorite of the bunch, Slaughterhouse, was moved up to February 23rd, two days before my birthday! Happy birthday to me!

The ones they're locking - could that mean they're coming to the US via a US label? I don't see the point in region locking Zombi Holocaust or Burial Ground since those 2 already have US DVD releases. The rest, well, I already have the Elite Splatter U and I don't expect the BD transfer to be a major improvement so that one's a likely pass. I've got Dead Next Door preordered and Slaughterhouse will be a blind buy but it looks hokey

That's why they are locked - they are coming to US Blu-ray (Scalps from RetroMedia) or they've already been released in the US on Blu-ray (Hollywood Chainsaw Hooker from RetroMedia and Zombi Holocaust and Burial Ground both from Media Blasters). The region-locking was likely a stipulation in the contract because they already did have US distribution/release on the format.

Also sounds like they'll be announcing two more slasher films tomorrow, although they're strongly suggesting one of them is X-Ray.

I've already got the Scream bluray, but great news for those in the UK.

EDIT: Guess we won't have to wait until tomorrow!

I keep forgetting 88 is a UK label and that their primary focus is releasing titles for that market. I'll try to remember this every time there's an impending announcement so I won't be disappointed when they announce stuff that's already out in the US :)

    ... and the other:

Both X-Ray and Dead Of Winter will be region locked.

Hopefully Kino, Olive, or Shout come to the rescue with Dead Of Winter.

Yeah, 88 Films are a great label.

People are shitting on them right now since the Toxic Avenger III Blu-ray is cut, but the HD master came straight from Troma and was explained to be Lloyd's preferred "cut" – so any US Blu-ray will also be cut.

The DVD of Toxie III was cut as well. The scene in question takes place right before toxie and claire have sex and Lloyd cut it out for pacing reasons.
