zbinks is talking about watching the Dark Force release. He was asking details about the 88 Films release. If a disc is coded for "B" it shouldn't really matter at all, since that's resolved from the start and doesn't factor in when the disc is actually playing. If it's a crappy unmodified multi-region player (there really is no such thing as a "region-free" Blu-ray player) that can't handle PAL or 50hz content properly, there might be lagging issues then.
Thanks - I really appreciate detailed reports on the technical presentation like this. If the 88 Films release is somehow superior, then the lesson is to wait for the reviews. Of course, I somehow doubt that I’ll be double dipping on Offerings.

I just rematched this on blu-ray. Huh. I kind of like this one now. Very vibrant, and strange. The non-horror elements were the most interesting part. I love the country bumpkin, visiting cousin Harold's family in mid-late July atmosphere it has going for it.
Got the dark force bluray am happy with it. the film was pretty cool as well it was a 1st time watch for me.

I got a copy of the 88 release of Offerings for comparison, and it seems that what I was seeing was just oddly stilted camerawork. I mis-remembered the first scene. It was actually the scene where Spoiler John Radley popped up in the back seat and broke the one girl's neck, an obvious homage to / ripoff of Annie's death scene in the original Halloween. Ian Jane mentioned a "strange trailing/ghosting effect" in his review of the 88 disc. This issue is present on both discs. Both discs are clearly sourced from the same master and other than the commentary on the 88 disc, there doesn't seem to be any real reason to recommend one over the other.

I noticed 88 Films is releasing Nightmare Sisters, Deadly Embrace, Murder Weapon. https://88-films.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/the-best-of-80s-scream-queens-blu-ray Wonder how it stacks up to Vinegar Syndrome.
I imagine they'll be the same transfers and they just licensed them from VS, similar to what they did with Graduation Day.
I was looking at that set as well but don't think it will be necessary. VS did a great job with Nightmare Sisters from my recollection. It also doesn't appear that there will be extras. On Amazon UK it is $20.73 shipped to the U.S. which is pretty good considering it's 3 films.
Also Don't Go In The Woods, Luther The Geek, and their Code Red titles. 88 Films usually won't do a new transfer if they don't have to. Fortunately, VS knocked it out of the park with all three. They look gorgeous.
Yeah, I have all five films from VS. Very satisfied. I'm not a huge 88 Films follower (and owner .. I have a few), so I was surprised to see them have the films. Didn't know the history. I will say the 88 Films art work for the set is pretty cool.
