Wow. Slaughterhouse looks like shit. Should have held onto the DVD.
The screenshots are truly disappointing
I hard to believe that this is a new HD scan of the negative. It seems way too dark and the colors are off too. Blood looks dark brown instead of red and the night sceenes are drowned in oversaturated blue, there is also black crush. I can only hope that a US release can fix that....
I also don't get why the didn't port over the commentary from the DVD and the rest of the extras....
Aside from the commentaries being different, they did port over most of the extras from the DVD. The only things missing are the Photo Galleries, the Teaser Trailer, and the DVD-ROM content.
"The Making Of Slaughterhouse" ---> Rick Roessler Interview
"Financing And Distribution Of Independent Horror Films" ---> Jerry Encoe Interview
Dead Scenes Vault ---> Raw On-Set Footage
"Buddy Slaughters Georgetown U" & "Buddy Slashes Washington D.C." ---> Buddy Meets The Public
I will also add that the movie looks much better in motion than it does based on those screencaps.
Also, to follow up with Angelman, there's a version of the film on YouTube, fullscreen and probably sourced from the DVD, and Lester's face is obstructed in that version too. So it definitely seems to be a stylistic choice. I capped a pic from the YouTube version and attached it below:
That's it. Huh. Looks intentional. Curious lighting choice, but makes me more forgiving of the 88 Films Blu.
Yea the occasional screen looks great but the others are overly dark and look terrible. Seems a real shame.
Just got a shipping notice from 88 Films for Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and The Boogey Man. Didn't expect them to ship these two weeks early unless they're going the Scream Factory route.
I believe they do ship early if you order direct from them.
Splatter University has been delayed, according to a Facebook question that they answered:

I'm still going to get slaughterhouse, I've sold my dvd now, I don't think the screens look to bad, when you consider the low budget, probably fairly low film stock and the lack of proper lighting for the filming, I doubt any other release will be any better.
this is a pretty legit label at this point, I wonder why they don't refund VAT when shipping to US?
I just blind bought Slaughterhouse from my local HMV store in Derby for £8.99!
WOW, that's cheap, will see if they have it in the local Birmingham store for that price, I will get it now if they do.
Thanks for the heads up, got mine for £8.99 from the Birmingham branch of HMV today, they had a few copies in, seems they were doing the current line for £8.99 so will definitely pay them a visit when 'Hollywood hookers' is released.
wonder if they send international?
I'm going to be back in a week or so in the hope Bogeyman is on the same deal. The Derby store had no more 88Films titles so there are either alot of horror fans in Derby or they only get one copy or non at all of each. Still alot cheaper than on Amazon, Play, Zavvi etc etc!!
Just watched it, prints not to bad, has a grindhouse feel, lots of dirt and specs, colours could be toned down slightly, but I was never expecting a 5* print, all in all happy enough.
