I got that info from almost every universal catalogue release thus far. They're notorious for using dated masters and transfers ridden with DNR.

Too bad Scream Factory wasn't able to pick up Firestarter or People Under ...

The People Under the Stairs, White Noise and The Return have all been released on Blu-Ray internationally, so it's not exactly a secret what kind of transfer the US Universal releases will have.

White Noise was one of the only times I fell asleep in a movie theater. Not being dramatic or exaggerating either, I literally fell asleep. All I remember about it is that I think there was a car accident at some point in the film, and the sound woke me up.

Seed Of Chucky is the only other film I fell asleep during, which was coincidentally released around the same time if I recall.

Agreed, and Universal hardly cares about striking new transfers for most of the major titles in their back catalog.

These will all almost certainly be (albeit I'd wish to be proven wrong here) sourced from dated masters. It'll just depend on how old the transfers are; and how much DNR, edge enhancement and other crap they'll apply to attempt to make these look passable in HD.

White Noise deserves a crappy transfer...it's just a crappy film. The sequel was amazingly better in comparison.

Why:confused: They would just use whatever transfers Universal gave them. Now if Synapse got them then I would be happy:D

I own the German Blu-ray of White Noise and it looks quite stunning at times. Too bad they didn't include part 2 as a Double Feature.

Who are we kidding though? Universal is the worst studio by far when it comes to releasing films on blu-ray. They didn't even care about giving fucking HITCHCOCK films any better treatment. Watch The Birds and tell me Universal doesn't suck.

And UV and digital copies are not special features. What a joke.

I still can't believe they tried to pass George C. Scott off as a Native American.

Well we'd still have the dated masters, DNR and EE but at least some nice extras.

Although we'd get new cover art people would be bitching about, so it's a bit of a wash.

In fairness, Universal's masters don't look ALL bad. Halloween II, Child's Play 2, Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life, Psycho, Brazil, these are just few of MANY examples.

Now, use DNR on a catalog animated film, then we got a problem.

Hard Target looked nice too. The arrow release is the way to go for People Under The Stairs. Old dnr'd master supplied by universal for transfer but plenty of extras.
