Christmas Eve (2001 Japan; dir. Toshiro Saiga)
"Strange low-budget shot-on-video Japanese horror film about teens being chased and butchered during a Christmas vacation."

I'm minutes away from posting a review of Synapse's CHRISTMAS EVIL disc.

Several days ago I learned that there is another "special edition" from Troma that has different special features (which are apparently related to the actual movie, and not the usual Troma crap). However, it seems to be out of print and I did not intend to delay the review (which is already a day late thanks to my airheaded manager, who scheduled me to work on Christmas eve and day, even though I'd already put in 8+ hours on Thanksgiving).

If anyone who reads this has the Troma DVD and would like to loan it to me for a comparison review, I'll pay for shipping both ways.

Thought I'd revive this thread since the holidays are, well, now. Anything else to add, add it.

One week leading up to X-Mas a few years back I watched all of these:

    Black Christmas (1974)
    Elves (1990)
    Home for the Holidays (1972)
    Jack Frost (1996)
Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman (2000)
    Silent Night, Bloody Night (1974)
Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 (1984)
Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 (1987)
Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! (1989)
Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (1990)
Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker (1992)
To All A Good Night (1980)

Elves is probably one of the best "worst" movies I have ever seen:

    ELVES SCENE - GENIUS

And if memory serves, the film should have been called ELF because there is only one...

There's something else in the back of my mind... But I can't think of it.

Yeah... Battle Royale often gets tossed into horror genre. I put it under Action but I'll admit no good genre. It's been a few years but I don't even remember the sequel's Christmas connection. Does it take place on Christmas?

Though it falls more readilly into science fiction TRANCERS does feature a variation on zombies and the original film is set near Christmas.

Alex de la Iglesia's excellent El Dia de la Bestia (Day of the Beast) is another one for the list, its all about the birth of the Antichrist at Christmastime.

I really need to get a decent DVD of that one, I was in Spain not long ago but no shops stocked it, I guess it has gone out of print.

Can we add "New Year's Evil (1981)" as a footnote or something?
