Any new info on this release lately???
Actually as the Media Blasters table over the weekend they said they still don't even have a master they are happy with!!!! Its going to be a loooonnngg wait...
Why didn't they release it a year ago (or was it two years)? Did they have an improperly framed print?
For the record, has anyone ever seen this film in 2.35:1? I have only seen the P&S video.
I dont know but now that I see that this is a looong was off--are there any other ways available to see this? Other region discs, DVD-R, etc....
Only found a vhs
any update on this??
Yes it's been more than a year now since they first announced it!!
After all the bitching and whinning, they probably threw it back into the pond
I guess it's all said before but why would they announce it in the first place? If they don't even have a proper print!!
Ive had a DVD-R of this for ages-its an amalgamated print with the English Language version combined with the missing scenes from the French uncut version. It contains the dog scenes etc that are missing from all the English Language prints that Ive seen
I think that they thought that they had a proper print with an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. There was some discussion that it should be 2.35:1 and that's what caused all of the problems.
I think this is the copy I watched. Bootleg for sure, and definitely cobbled from at least two different sources as evidenced in the poor cutting and odd sound quirks. However it was still enough to see the film, which I thought was excellent. Some truly surreal moments and those dog scenes were wild as hell. If SS ever gets their act together and releases this I'm sure I'd enjoy it in a nice cleaned up state even more. According to Sirabella, "it's coming," and the hold up was due to a rights struggle with MGM. It honestly looks fine at 1.85 and won't be surprised to see it that way.
I have also updated my avatar and user title accordingly .
Glad to hear you liked the film, it is a classic!
Release this film!
Great to see you liked it, Andrew. Those dog sequences never fail to get under my skin. I am dying to have this and One on Top of the Other on DVD.
