Bloody Disgusting: While Warner Home Entertainment dicks around with their 400 pointless releases of the various incarnations of Freddy Krueger, the international Warners will be releasing the entire A Nightmare on Elm Street box set on Blu-ray in the UK October 3 of this year!

That's right folks, a region free HD release of the first seven Elm Street films all for the low price of £37.49 (approximately $61 US dollars). With Freddy vs Jason already on blu-ray, and the 2010 remake being erased from my memory, I think this is the perfect way to upgrade my personal collection. The only question I have is whether or not these are NEW transfers. It's worthy to note that their 2010 release of Craven's original Elm Street is one of the best transfers I have ever seen..."

Check out the special features inside.

    Special Features:

The Freddy Krueger Special: [1988 MTV Special] Easter Egg
    Freddy's Nightmares Episode 2: It's a Miserable Life 1988
    Freddy's Nightmares Episode 3: Killer Instinct 1988
    "Welcome to Prime Time"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "It Really Happened"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "A Childhood Memory"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "Sometime in the Early 80's "
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "So It Began"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: Beauty and the Beast"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "Making the Glove"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "Shapeshifter"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "The Shoot"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "The Revolving Room"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "All's Well That Ends Well"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "Talalay's Tally"
A Nightmare on Elm Street: "It Couldn't Have Happened"

It states TBC: To Be Confirmed. They better use the right Freddy. As long as these come in normal keepcases I'll buy this. I hate those cardboard foldout packages.

My guess is the artwork will be the same as the German one, except with UK rating logos.

Apparently the Europeans are bigger fans of these movies than we are. Our own movies have gotten better treatment overseas for a long time. Well, not always better treatment but certainly more of them have been released in Europe than in the U.S. I'm still waiting for a legit Region 1 DVD of Death Ship.

7 films on 4 BD discs? Eesh...not a good sign.

There´s 5 discs. Not suprised it´s not like anyone´s gonna bother to release a special edition of each of the movies. Already preordered :).

    Reading=Good.

The Nightmare On Elm Street Collection features 7 films across 4 Blu-ray discs plus a disc of bonus content.

I don't need special editions, just transfers that look at least better than an upscaled DVD...otherwise what's the point of using the format?

    I'll wait for reviews.

No need to get cocky, Amazon UK states it's 5 discs.

I think what he is saying is that it is 4 discs for the movies, with an extra 5th disc for the bonus features. Only 4 of the discs are dedicated to the films themselves. I'm willing to bet part 1 gets its' own disc and then 2/3, 4/5, 6/7.

I read it but Amazon.co.uk says it´s 5 discs. I trust Amazon more than BD wince they´re often wrong. The movie can still look good even if there´s two on single disc... I just think not many people at WB care about the franchise that much to release them on single discs. I might be wrong though obviously.

That´s what I also think. Part one will get it´s own disc (propably the same as the one released last year) and the rest of the movies will be 2 on each disc with "bonus features" spread across all the discs. I don´t think the bonus features are enough to warrant a stand alone disc.

You're probably right but it would be nice if Warner would provide more details.

No you didn't because I pulled that quote from Amazon, where it SPECIFICALLY states: The Nightmare On Elm Street Collection features 7 films across 4 Blu-ray discs plus a disc of bonus content.

As spawningblue pointed out, I am not disputing the fact there will be a total of FIVE discs in this boxset. There will however be FOUR blu ray discs devoted to the NOES films THEMSELVES, leaving ONE bonus disc for the extra content. 4+1=5. YAY!

I’m not trying to be a prick…it’s just this has me concerned transfers may suffer from lower bitrates and/or looking like upscaled DVDs...and thus not even be worthy of being on the format or the purchase...especially for those who already own ANOES on BD as well as the New Line Boxset.

The bonus features being on a separate disc is actually a good thing…as it leaves more room for the films themselves on each of their respective discs. Mill Creek put out a double feature Gamera BD which actually had decent transfers, so who knows…like I said I’ll wait for reviews before I pull the trigger.

While I was originally pissed off that each film wasn't going to be on its own disc, someone did point out that films like these often get released on BD 25 discs and that the ones in this set would be BD 50 discs. So there's plenty of room on there for a good quality transfer.

Someone told me years ago that the reason you don't see this on a region 1 DVD is because it's caught up in some kind legal red tape. Figures.
