Matches the rumor mill from earlier in the year. Hopefully Hitchcock and the Classic Monsters are announced soon. Not sure if I'll buy this release day and date or not. Can't say if there will be another boxset down the road with more movies.

Beware of the blob, it creeps
And leaps and glides and slides
    Across the floor
    Right through the door
    And all around the wall
    A splotch, a blotch
    Be careful of the blob.

Exactly. I'll wait until the eventual Universal Monsters box is released as well to make sure that it isn't included. I also want to see a review or two first. I'm tired of being burned by Universal.

    Press Release:
The leak list is turning out to be very on target and makes me wonder if the original Phantom of the Opera and Hunchback of Notre Dame are indeed in the pipeline. There are photographs from these films on their anniversary website but that normally doesn't really mean anything.

We'll probably have close to two months to wait and see. But if these are released by Universal from their vaulted elements there's a great probability that they'll be the best prints seen in decades.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D, Dracula's epilogue, The Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame all possibilities for Halloween? "I think it will thrill you. It may shock you. It might even - horrify you. So if any of you feel that you do not care to subject your nerves to such a strain, now's your chance to - uh, well, we warned you."

Its a shame universal is asking so much for these classic blus. A&C meet frankenstein is great, no doubt, but at those prices, with no new supplements (to be fair, it doesn't really need them), I'm just really reluctant to bite. Guess I'll bide my time until the 'straight' classic monsters are released. I don't think I'd be able to say no to them...

It's a shame the movie is not in widescreen. And I don't mean this release, I'm talking about how the movie was filmed originally. Would have been gorgeous.

I think Abbott & Costello meet the Mummy was in widescreen.

It fits the rest of the Universal Classics better as 1.33:1 anyways. Almost wish Young Frankenstein was shot for 1.33:1. :D

The reviews for the Universal Monsters blu-rays had better be more favorable if I'm going to drop $100 for the set. Can't Universal ever do anything right when it comes to their back catalog?

That's why I'm only dropping $60 total for the UK import. If they think they can get me to spend twice that on their DNR excuses for "restorations" they've got another thing coming.
