has anyone heard any news for this? i saw this trailer http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/8filmstodiefor/trailer/ for it at texas chainsaw massacre the beginning. a 3 night nationwide theatrical release of eight films that are deemed too controversial or too graphic by the mainstream studios, one of which is the highly anticipated dark ride. the films will be playing in 500 theaters listed here November 17-19

    Odd. But Cool.

A chance to see an Nacho Creda film on the big screen is AMAZING!

Everything else though on the list, seems very video-esque and cheap though.

Wonder what the 8th film is? Hope it's good!

That doesn't deter me at all...they all look way more interesting than 95% of wide-released studio horror from the past few years. I can't wait for this, plan on ordering all-access passes for the weekend for me and my buddy. I'm most looking forward to The Hamiltons, The Gravedancers, and of course The Abandoned.

Here's hoping the last film added is Isolation, since Lionsgate has the rights...looks good. Too bad Anchor Bay already has Hatchet though...

I see it's playing at one of my local theaters,so I'll have to take a look.We get some of these odd screenings here from time to time,I caught MALEVOLENCE theatrically in a special screening. We also had some of the few theatrical screenings of TWO EVIL EYES and THE SLEEPING CAR here years ago.

Surprised not more people here are talking about this.

Nice to give some new directors a chance or movies that would never make a theater release.

And no, the new face and master of horror isn't roth, as hollywood & QT would like you to believe.

There are plenty of guys out there with some interesting ideas in horror film.

Anyone know what the 8th film is yet?

I'm also shocked that not many people here are talking about this also.

I just discovered this thread and found out it's playing in not one, but TWO theaters in our little town. I'll probably go if some people... *nudge, nudge*... can recommend which ones to check out. They all look very indie to me, so I wouldn't want to waste my time with the bad ones.

Well, this sounds interesting, but how can they do this? That is a lot of prints of 8 films to make for a 3 day event. 500 theaters X 8 films = 4,000 prints. How can this be profitable? It's great marketing though and hopefully there will be more of these in the future. I very much am looking forward to the Grave Dancers. I liked Mendez's "Convent" a lot... too bad it won't be in Duluth. Our theatres suck here.

Am I retarded? How much are tix?

I'd be willing to go support some "fresh blood" on the cinematic horror scene. Anyone who whines about the remake trend and then DOESN'T go support something like this had better have a fucking amazing reason for not doing it...here's our chance to lend our support to the underdogs, folks!

Safe bet that it's digital projection.

I just bought the Shimizu film Rinne from my Asian import dealer, who recommended it. Deciding if I want to wait for the theatrical viewing first now.

they all look amazing!!! I can't believe how cool this is! It's absolutely brilliant. I see the rapture on the eighteenth, but other than that, I plan to see them all! And I also can't believe how little talk there is about this

  15. Too bad this shit won't come to Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

I've only seen "The Abandoned". It's an okay film, with great atmosphere. But I don't think it's a real must-see and it certainly doesn't push any boundaries. It's more along the lines of the scary-girl ghost horror of recent Asian cinema (although I enjoyed it far more than than "The Ring" or "Dark Water").

The ones I'm really wanting to see are "The Hamiltons" and "Gravedancers". Those look astonishing.

I can't beleive this is in Atlanta! I'm there. Cheap looking or not, there could be some promising films here and I look forward to being apart of it.

Their website still looks unfinished with no way to online purchase and all the movie tickets websites aren't offering them yet.

    wtf.

  20. I know! I sent an email to the addy they had listed on the site about pre-ordering tix and if there's going to be any other MA locations or anything in RI, and no response! :fuck:
