I dunno how many of you are excited for this release, but I know I am. I've wanted to see this for a long while now.

I finally started seeing some pre-orders pop up for this one, as well as cover art. Supposidly, the release date is 8-23-05.

Unearthed does some great work, I hope they continue that with this disc.

    SYNOPSIS
Aftermath: A woman dies tragically in an automobile accident but the true horror awaits her after death. What happens to the body after the spirit has moved on and the corpse is at the mercy of those who manhandle the dead? What manner of creature is it that tears our bodies apart only to put them back together again? Whether we like it or not, we are all at the mercy of the coroners knife and the abuse and indignities we suffer are strictly up to him.
Genesis: A sculptor is traumatized by the death of his wife in a car accident. He builds a sculpture in her memory. As the lifelike sculpture begins to bleed through the cracks of clay, the sculptor's flesh mutates and crumbles away.

    So far the extras I've seen listed are;

    Audio Commentary: Director Nacho Cerda
    Documentaries: Making of
Other: Interviews; Bonus Nacho Cerda's First Feature The Awakening

I can't wait to finally see Genesis...Aftermath is a beautiful short. Not in subject matter, but how great the cinematography is. The contrast of the great technical aspects against what is actually being shown is really something to see. Definitely not the normal sleaze and splatter we're used to.

And yes, I have the VHS with The Awakening on it. It's nothing like Aftermath (or what Genesis sounds like). It's only a few minutes, and deals with the movement of time and death. It's quite good...and no gore.

I have been eying this one for a while now. I can't believe its still like months down the road before it will be released. It seems like its already been forever just getting this far. I guess I can wait a little longer.

One of my most anticipated releases of the year.
This is one DVD that won't be receiving BBFC classification any time this century....

i got mine a week or so ago, watched it over the last week. both 'aftermath' and 'genesis' are very nicely shot and scored. great narratives, and interesting ideas in there. recommended - one of the nicest odd releases this year.

Mine got sent off from DDD yesterday. Can't wait to give this a hurl, it sounds like some nasty shit. At least they're short films, that's all I gotta say.

Quick question, does the standard release of Aftermath contain the short The Awakening or is this limited to the Gory Cover version?

    Cheers!

I don't know, but you can flip the gory cover to get the nicer normal cover, the gory cover comes with both covers, the normal one doesn't included the gory cover. I believe that is the only real difference.

    Cheers, KR~!
I'm going to pick up the standard cover as the gore version's a little OTT. Can you imagine a non-horror fan spotting it on the shelf and showing an interest? As long as I'm not missing any extras, I'm a happy camper.

Well, in my case, if it's a woman she's scored some major points with me.

Anyways did anyone get their copy yet? Mine finally shipped out from Diabolik today. It should be here Tues. or Wed. when I can give it a nice rundown.

Ah, see what you mean. :)

What I was thinking is that any non-horror fan would see the gore version cover and assume that the owner is:

    a) a serial killer
    b) at least a little unstable

and run for the nearest exit!

I certainly wouldn't like my parents spotting the DVD spine on the shelf and thinking, "Hmm, never saw that at the pictures, wonder what it's about...."

At least the standard version has a non-graphic sleeve.

Heh heh, I was just kidding around with you in my last reply. I can totally see that parent thing being funny though, just as long as it's not happening with me. :D
