I stumbled across German steelbook blu-ray's with these amazing covers. I'd buy them if I didn't already own the films twice over.

Zavvi.com is carrying them too: https://us.zavvi.com/offers/steelbooks/pre-order.list?widget_id=155499

Ugh... I do want these as Ross knock 'em out off the park! But when hasn't he?

Knowing I'm going to order these movies at least twice over already with the box sets is making this painful... I almost bought the Wal-Mart editions just because they glowed in the dark! (And were relatively cheap.)

Would love to see Ross do Chaney!

The story about these isn't up on Alex Ross' site yet. I can't see them not coming out over here. Those are some knock out covers. I wouldn't be surprised if they release posters of those in the future. I've been watching all the Universal Monsters posters and prints released. I'm going to put together a line up eventually. This site has a ton of them listed.

Ross is such a fabulous artist. He gets some flack in the comics industry because he is not as successful with sequential storytelling (given that his figures are very much "posed"), but as a cover or poster artist he is unmatched. These are gorgeous.

Best Buy exclusive steel books for Halloween perhaps? They may be only $9.99 which is their going rate for repackaged catalog releases as steels right?

But Best Buy always waits until the last second to notify their customers. Bastards.

Sweet, too bad my prediction of the price did not come true. Although it may yet. But a 50% mark off seems kinda high...

I'll probably get a few on Black Friday. Thanks for the information.

Damn, those are beautiful! I'm not big on steelbooks but these will look so much better on the shelf than the Monster's Collection set I have. Bit pricey though. Hopefully they come down a bit so I pick a few up.

I started getting custom covers for these films and their sequels. I am enamoured with this artwork and may just opt for the prints when they're made available.

These aren't original theatrical prints though and shouldn't be more than $60 max imo unless they're one-offs of the original painting.

I wasn't saying that the $695.oo for the prints was a good price. X-Human said you could theatrical posters twice that size for that price which wasn't exactly correct.

I took X-Human's post as meaning theatrical prints of some movies could be found cheap and not necessarily Universal Monster movie prints. I've found legit prints for $20- something before.

Love these prints, but can easily find more fulfilling ways to drop $695.00 on one item. I think The Wolf Man print is my favorite.

You're right. For these specific movies $695 won't get far. Oh, the market's crashed a bit on them for various reasons. But what I said is hyperbole I know.

But I would rather drop $700 on what I could get from that era than on these pure and simple.

These are giclees on canvas. Usually the canvas versions are a lot. I try to get paper versions but Alex Ross doesn't seem to get companies to make paper versions of his art that much anymore. At least not signed and numbered.

And I believe normal movie poster size is around what they are selling. Modern posters are 27" x 40". Unless you mean the old vintage horror movie posters. I think those are the crazy expensive ones that go for at times six figures at auction. But there is a whole world of movie poster collecting out there from Mondo Tees and others where you can get a poster from a popular artist for $50 or so and see that poster increase to hundreds of dollars. There was a topic where we were talking about a few of those. Check the ebay sold prices for the screen print version of Jaws by Laurent Durieux. It's shocking. Mondo Tees are releasing another Jaws poster at Comic Con this week.
