Not really considering the Bond 50 set is only $180 for 20 movies. This set should have definitely been $150. I too will wait for a sale, hopefully on Black Friday.

Deep Discount currently has it for slightly less at 33% off. I want it, but I can wait until it either goes down in price or somebody buys it for me as a Christmas or Birthday gift.

My mind knows that it's not a bad deal considering the quality of the movies. But, in my heart, I feel like the whole set should be around $100 to $150 tops. I can't offer any reasonable argument why. It just feels right for some reason.

Do you think they will release The Birds and Shadow of a Doubt as well as the other 9 Bond films separately at some point on Blu-Ray?

Set now delayed til Oct 30th:

    http://www.digitalbits.com/#mytwocents

"First, we've heard back from Universal regarding the delay the release of Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection. Here's their official statement:

"Universal Studios Home Entertainment is postponing the Blu-ray release of Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection to October 30, 2012. Certain imperfections with the product have come to light and, as a result, we are delaying the release date to correct these points. Our goal is to always deliver the best possible product to our consumers.""

 Thanks Universal, I needed that. Actually, I have to give them credit for fixing the problems with this set. Hopefully all goes well with this and the Universal Monsters set.

    has anyone bought this?
I see reviews stating "well this is probably the best it's gonna look" on dvd beaver and well.....
the Birds and Vertigo were the one's I REALLY wanted, but they apparently look different ??

The price tag is making me maybe want to wait for individual releases ( if they ever come)

I'm also thinking about waiting for the solo releases since they did release the other Bonds & are now selling rather cheaply at my local Wal-mart.

I preordered the regular version from Amazon.uk when it was 77 pounds ($124). I added North By Northwest which didn't make the U.K. set for another $10.75. Still is $90 cheaper than the U.S. version. :)

This set is $121.99 at Amazon right now. I think I'm finally going to pull the trigger.

You won't be sorry. It's an amazing set. Hopefully the nine silent films recently restored by the BFI get a blu-ray release at some point next year.

Thanks Buck. Seems like a reasonable price for a good chunk of cinematic history. Are the transfers for Marnie and Family Plot as bad as some say?

They're not exactly reference quality, but it appears that all of the films are about as good as they will ever look.

I have the UK special edition version (got it from Amazon UK) of this and all the discs are region free. It's ridiculous:

It's such a nice looking set that I have it displayed in my living room. The only downside is that it doesn't have North by Northwest, but I picked that up pretty cheap.
