And the price of the Blu-Ray is going to be lowered.

It looks like the Blu-ray is getting a general re-release on 03/22/11. They list a $22.46 discounted price there, which sounds far more reasonable.

I am glad, that I didn't buy the Blu-Ray release at its current price. I am tempted to pick it up at this much lower price.

Finally a DVD release! Thanks Midnight Legacy! :)

I'll order this later on. It'll be perfect to add to my Alien collection.

Yes, I would like to purchase this DVD. I have a crappy VHS dub of Alien 2 I bought from somewhere years ago (not Midnight). I hope any future titles from ML will also be DVD.

i appreciate the lowering of the price, its just a shame that those who supported the label right out of the gate are now getting the shaft.

Still too high a price for me. There are so many good movies on BD for $10 - $15, that a $20+ blind buy for what sounds like a really shitty movie is out of the question. If I ever find this in a discount bin for $5 - $10, I'll sate my curiosity.

On a side note, can't they get in legal trouble for releasing a movie called Alien 2 w/o the consent of Fox? It seems like even more of an infringement than an Asylum mockbuster like Alien vs. Hunter or something.

It looks like we are going to have to wait and see what Midnight Legacy has planned for future releases.

Now on DVD, cheaper, and to more outlets. Can't complain much about that, can we?

I 100% understand why they're doing it, but I'm actually a little sad they're also putting it out on DVD, haha. I like the idea of a blu-only label. It's so snobbish, haha.

Don't forget, there are still a few people who don't own a Blu-Ray player and releasing a title only on Blu-Ray wouldn't be fair to DVD buyers.

And releasing a low budget horror film that 99.9% of the worlds population hasn`t heard of before as an expensive blu ray disc which most people don`t own players is marketing suicide !

On ML's blog, it states there being additional footage not seen in any previous vhs or dvd releases. Does anyone who owns the blu ray know what addtional footage is there?

    From Midnight Legacy:

All in all, there were around 35 additions from the previous reference (the Japanese Pre-Record) which amounted to an extra minute and a half. This runs the gamut of adding a few frames to the stock footage during the opening, about 30 seconds in the bowling alley, a few extra seconds scattered throughout the cave sequence, and two VERY slight (around 17 extra frames) gore extensions to the scene where Soavi dies, and also to the final head explosion before they exit the cave.

Also, the Opening credit sequence is completely different from any version as it has actual footage as opposed to the white text over a black screen. This is also more footage, but is mitigated by the removal of the previous credits runtime. Also, the credits now come after the start, where asin previous versions, it was the first thing you saw.

Some of these extensions are what caused the need to create a composite master audio track from less than ideal sources (i.e. the Italian language Digibeta).

That's actually the BD version, and it was corrected. The DVD version is around $14 I think.

Thank you, this was very helpful! Do you know the link to where that piece of text came from?(I didn't see it on ML's blog)
