Last week, Fox scheduled an "Untitled Ridley Scott" project for release on March 4, 2016. Entertainment blog The Wrap revealed today that movie will be Prometheus 2 (or whatever the film will eventually be titled). It'll be Ridley Scott's next feature after he completes Exodus for Fox, and it's scheduled to begin production this fall.

Michael Green (Green Lantern, "Heroes") has been tapped to do a rewrite on Jack Paglen's initial draft. (No Damon Lindelof, phew!) It's said that it might include multiple versions of David, Michael Fassbender's character in Prometheus. No word on whether Fassbender or Noomi Rapace are returning, but it seems like their contracts included a multi-film option.

    Thoughts? Comments?

I am excited. I have watched Prometheus about 6 times now and it gets better each time.

Yeah! love me some Prometheus! I do hope they tie it in more with Alien though.

I assumed a sequel or two was a given for this movie and am glad to see confirmation on one, just wish it were coming a lot sooner.

"“Prometheus” served as an ‘unofficial’ prequel to Scott's seminal 1979 sci-fi movie “Alien,” and the sequel that Green will write aims to be much more “alien-y” and in line with the terrifying tone of past films in the franchise."

Good news, even though I REALLY like Prometheus, I wish they had filmed the original script instead, that really was more of a direct prequel with monster effects almost in the style of The Thing.

Sadly they went another route when they rewrote the script, thanks to those idiots at FOX wanting something further away from Alien.
Sounds like we MIGHT get something closer to the original idea now :)

Awesome. Loved Prometheus and consider it the second best film in that world. Great news!

Do you think they'll make it before the new Alien movie by Neill Blomkamp?
There are no relevant updates or anything about a Prometheus sequel now.

Agreed. I really wanted to follow Rapace's character to the planet of origin. Could Ridley be skirting the big reveal because...he doesn't have an answer? I dunno.

I'm hoping its more a case of keeping the story about the story rather than a character

Losing Shaw seems like a mistake to me. She was the new Ripley character. Maybe there will be a new one. But going through Prometheus only to not have her in the sequel seems crazy. They are talking trilogy for this series or the movies starting with Prometheus 2, so maybe she'll show up in a later movie. But just having David there and perhaps Shaw's fate in a flashback or as a big question throughout the movie is not making me happy.

I agree. I'm also very worried that they're going to have a "new Ripley" for each of the new installments. We fell in love with the character over many years, which really helps with the brand loyalty.
