I was looking around on Ebay for Friday the 13th laserdiscs and I found this:

Friday the 13th Part 2 Laserdisc

Going at 102.50 after 2 bids? Is there something really rare or special about this one? After all it's bare bone and full screen. Maybe the bidder just got carried away, after all, he is called theevilbidder...

I have a Friday the 13th(1) laserdisc if you are interested.

  3. I would guess that it is just someone fooling around. I would be very surprised if someone was willing to pay over a $100 for a pan and scan laserdisc of a movie that is readily available on DVD letterboxed for around $10.

On the other hand if someone is willing to pay a $100 each for laserdiscs I will gladly sell him my whole collection! :D

No idea. It's EP too, which is pretty shitty quality...

First bid must have been around 100 though. Maybe the person just entered that in because they knew they wanted it but they didn't want it to slip away at the last second for 10 cents so they just tossed up a huge number they knew it'd never reach... But then it did reach.

    It's bid shielding.

Notice that both accounts were started last weekend. The first guy bid $100 as his proxy bid, but as first bidder, it was still $4.99. The second guy (most likely the same person) bids over that, so that it now sits at $100, and no one else will bid. Then he's gonna retract the bid, or just go deadbeat, meaning the seller will sell to the second highest bidder at $4.99.

No. In fact, E-Bay probably won't allow the bid retraction. This disc is not going to be sold, at least not now
