Still enjoying this, three episodes in. The Blaxploitation sequence was inspired, and I'm glad Angela Bassett is back. Hope they don't misuse her like they did in Freak Show.

But the Gaga haters are probably not gonna be happy; she seems to be the central character in Hotel, similar to the roles Jessica Lange has played in other seasons. I like the music choices too (that was Jesus and Mary Chain last night, right?).

I can't agree with this loud enough. He's always been one of my favorites of the cast and this role seems quite fun. So, here's hoping he gets a lot more to do.

My biggest fear right now is that they are dwelling too much on the vampire plot. I like all the performers and the characters, but it's been so derivative of "The Hunger" that it is becoming tiresome really fast.

YES, the music this season has been terrific...assuming you love the darker side of 80s new wave.

I was so ready to hate on this season, what with no Jessica Lange and the addition of Lady Gaga, but it's been satisfying so far. People always complain about there being too many characters and subplots, but we're on the fifth season now and it's really to be expected from this show.

Actually, I think the more obvious movie rip-off is Seven, with the killer basing his murders on the Ten Commandments.

I agree. This season has been fantastic so far. It's scary and really dark, I'm glad the got rid of the light horror-comedy from Coven & Freak Show. This is AHS how I liked it, dark, twisted and fucked up. I'm loving Lady Gaga so far too, she's doing really well with the material she's been given.

The writing is so much better this season, I love that we get to see almost all of the main characters interact with each other and are centralized to one place, rather than the last two seasons which scattered people and we wouldn't see characters for a few episodes.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season, so far, so great!!

The pace has slowed down a bit, but it's still decent.

Nice little nod to Suspiria in this week's episode though

I just watched the episode where Chloe gets turned after finding her son.
I like that they didn't fuck around with that whole thing. Like cock tease us for weeks on end with "oops just missed him!" bullshit.

The Devil's Night party was a little unsettling. I'm watching it wondering if anyone who's been affected by these people in real life will hear about how they paid an homage to these serial killers on AHS. Its good and sound though, in an artistic sense.

I'm never sure if Lady Gaga's character is in control with a master plan or is unable to restrain her indulgence. I'm thinking it's more the latter. Last night it was about giving in to her conscience and/or her fondness for undying love. I'm not sure what Holden's mother could do for her as a subordinate. Guess those who watched last night's new episode know. I'll weigh in next week. ;)

I'm finally caught up, including last night's episode.

Haven't cared for the past three seasons, only really liked the first. But this season is terrific so far. It's much darker than the previous seasons, and so far they've kept it very serious and focused. Casting Lady Gaga could have easily been obnoxious stunt casting (something this show is notorious for doing in previous seasons), but she's really terrific here. I'm really surprised that they've gotten away with some of the sexual content on basic cable, some of it is pretty graphic and probably wouldn't get past the MPAA with an R-rating (especially in the premiere episode). There's still time for the season to derail, but so far I'm loving it.

Given the Richard Ramirez connection and the name Hotel Cortez (with HC on the glass doors), can't help drawing the connection to the notorious Cecil Hotel in downtown LA.

The Devil's Night episode was awesome. I think Bundy deserved a seat at the table a bit more than Wuornos, though.

I felt the opposite way. I thought they rushed it. I can understand why you may not like being "teased", but I worry that they'll run out of steam with this storyline before the end of the season. It's happened before. Often. I would have liked a little bit more of her coming to grips with what her son's become, instead of, "oh hey, my son is a vampire. Guess I'll become one too"

I've played catch-up this week watching episodes 2-5 and I'm really loving this season. Everything ties together nicely and, so far, the various subplots don't seem to be unnecessary. Like Paff said, I'm still concerned that they will bust their nut far too early on, just like the previous seasons, and we'll be stuck with yet another season that drags its feet for 3 or 4 episodes.

I'm still enjoying American Porn Story, and liked the callback to season 1 in last week's episode (I was crazy busy and only caught up to it last night).

Well tonight's episode was pretty great.. Lady Gaga and Evan Peters killed it.
So much back story and explanation, I loved the twist at the end with Valentino & his wife.

I am hoping though we see the outcome of the kid vampires soon.
