Wasn't impressed by the trailer on this one - even though I have a soft spot for Amityville - but after finding out that Jody the demonic pig will be featured for the first time since the original, my interest has perked up.

Hope it's better than the last film with the Amityville tagline appended to it.

Totally! At first I thought it was just an "interpretation" of Jody. But now TOTS has announced that it is licensed from the new Amityville....!

Plus, that pig looks COOKED! Wouldn't mind taking a bite outta that LOL

Which one? Amityville Asylum? I'm not even going to bother with that one as I've only heard terrible things. Amityville Haunting looks like it could be a fun brainless flick to watch though.
Haha, it might just take a bight out of you! My anticipation for the new film definitely went up after seeing that mask.

The trailer for Amityville Haunting looked entertaining enough. What didn't you like about it, the found footage angle or something else?

Not sure why they went for the social media angle for the poster but I like the image and the way the title looks. Hope this one's good.

Had previously been rated R for "strong horror violence and language" but has since been edited down to a PG-13 for "disturbing horror violence and terror, suggestive images, brief language and thematic material" in an effort to get teenagers in the theater. Very disappointing, I'll probably be waiting for the R-rated disc release now.

And as for that movie poster that is styled to look like a Twitter feed... eew.

And here's a company not learning from Deadpool's success. They need to stop watering down horror films just for teens. If they want to see it they'll find a way. Unless reviews are very positive I'll be waiting for an uncut/R rated blu.

The found footage angle never bothered me. I think the problem with all these in name only Amityville movies is its simply a selling device. I've watched every Amityville movie (which was a chore), and the only ones with any merit are the first two and the remake. And even they aren't anywhere near perfect.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Conjuring 2 this summer as Amityville is featured. Plus Wan seems to want to make a full Amityville movie, so maybe the story can be done well for a change.

The biggest problem with Amityville Haunting, was that it was an ultra cheap Asylum production, with all the horrible acting and FX that comes with those.
And you got maybe one or two shots of the exterior of the house, just to remind you that you were watching an "Amityville" movie, since nothing else about it felt like one.

I would love for Wan to take a shot at making a proper Amityville movie, and I'm glad that it will be featured in Conjuring 2.
It will probably be the opening scene, as they mentioned the house at the end of the first one.

I have always had a weak spot for Amityville, since I watch part 2, on late night TV back in the late 80:s.
But none of the spinoffs have worked for me, since most didn't even feature the house.
I have some hopes about Awakening, as it seems to be set in the same world as the originals, with the exact same design of the house and settings.

But the delays and the cut down to PG-13 worries me.

It'd be nice just to see a movie that does the book justice. And to be set at Christmas time!

Originally, at the end of the first Conjuring the original line was about the Enfield case. They changed it before release to reference Amityville. Just like the Annabelle opening of the first conjuring I expect the Amityville portion will be the first ten minutes again. But it's said to be referenced throughout the rest of the film .

I really hope the blu-ray/dvd gets a R-rated version it's very sad now superhero movies are getting into R-rated business with success of deadpool and already batman vs superman will have a R-rated Blu-ray release and still Horror Movies are PG-13 friendly. anyway still looking forward to the 14th installment of the Amityville Franchise in my opinion the 10th film
    here's the list of films
    The Amityville Horror
    Amityville II The possession
    Amityville 3-D
    Amityville 4
    The Amityville Curse
    Amityville 1992 It's about time
    Amityville next generation
    Amityville Dollhouse
    The Amityville Horror 2005 remake

then the 4 really awful films
    Amityville Haunting
    Amityville Asylum
    Amityville Death House
    Amityville Theater

If nothing else, this is as good an excuse as any for me to finally dig into my Scream Factory Amityville boxset that has been just sitting on the shelf ever since I bought it.

PG-13 is bad, but edited down PG-13 is worse, fuck it, R version or nothing for me.
