I'm incredibly burned out on this type of film, but I'm thinking about giving it a chance in theaters.

Just got back from the theater.

Not quite up to the same level of the main Conjuring movies, but WAY better than the first spin-off :)

It's pretty slow burn to begin with, but kicks into the high gear in the second half.
At first I felt it was a bit tame for an R-rated movie, but that quickly changed in the second half :D

The characters was likable, and especially the two lead girls had a great chemistry together.
Both the cinematography and score was great, and the movie has the same wonderfully creepy atmosphere as the rest of the series.
And even though we have gotten plenty of these movies lately, and we pretty much know what to expect from them by now, Sandberg still succeeded with delivering a few twists, and surprises.

We also got a small unexpected cameo :)
    The Nun

The movie succeeded with tying it all together with the rest of the Conjuring Universe, for a seamless experience, when watching them all, back to back :)

    Recommended!

Took in $15 million on Friday alone.

Still can't decide if I want to make a trip to the theater for this one.

Caught an early matinee of this today. It was OK. "Meh" comes to mind. There were a handful of creepy sequences but it was definitely a slow burn to start. I also would have preferred it to be 15-20 mins shorter. But it was decent enough, I think it's worth a theater visit.

Ouija Origins is still my favorite of these similar flicks in recent years.

Thought it was ok. Nothing special. Also to me if they had cut out about 2 seconds I think they could have gotten a PG-13. If you enjoy the Conjuring universe it is certainly worth seeing but don't expect a whole lot.

    Spot on.

I enjoyed the sneak peak for IT prior to this. I can't wait for that.......also really think the Happy Death Day trailer looks really good.

I said it before and ill say it again. This Halloween season is shaping up to be legendary.

Happy Death Day looks okey, but at the same time, it's a bit too much tongue in cheek comedic, in the style of late 90:s Scream slashers.
I wish they would make a dark and serious old-school slasher instead.

I got a chance to go see this last night. I actually proposed to my now fiance out at dinner beforehand! :D So shitting ourselves in a cinema together was the next obvious step :p
I actually really enjoyed this one, way more than I thought I would. I didn't find it slow at all and thought the built up was actually handled quite well. The characters were pretty good and considering the main ones were little girls I thought they did a fantastic job. The scares were pretty intense, sometimes with just imagery alone. I found them well crafted and quite a lot better than David Sandburg's previous film Light's Out. He actually really sold me as a director here and I've heard he wouldn't be opposed to doing a Nightmare on Elm St film which I'd be all in for now. As Steel mentioned the film also has some fantastic cinematography. I was actually marvelling at the beauty of some of the outdoor shots in the film. Really great stuff.
I thought the way they tied this into the previous Annabelle film was pretty great as well. It made me want to actually go re-visit that other one now. I'd say if you've enjoyed the Conjuring films then you'll most likely enjoy this one. You can see they're building a connected world here and this film actually has me pretty excited for future entries into the Conjuring world.
Also, I got a big grin on my face when I saw that Raggedy Ann doll the adoptive parents brought Annabelle. I'm not sure if that's just a nod to the original doll or if it plays into the story more but it was cool nonetheless :D

    Congrats my man!!!!

Checking out a horror flick on the night you got engaged....... I wanna shake your hand my friend. And the fact your girl was cool with that as well.......sounds like you made the right decision. That's awesome to say the least and good luck with the planning.

Thank you guys for all the congratulations! We both really appreciate it :)

Haha, thanks man! I thought I may be pushing it going to see a horror pretty much straight after the big question but she was surprisingly more than happy to go. That being said, I don't think she realised exactly what she was getting into and potentially pulled a few muscles during some of the scary bits and then decided she watch her ring instead :p I got a few good laughs from her reactions lol. She's definitely a keeper and is very supportive of my passions (I'm taking her to see IT next :D).

Saw it today and thought it was just okay. It was really slow, but the finale was a lot of fun (can't wait for the inevitable evil scarecrow spin-off, lol). I think I'm just a bit burned out on this type of movie. I'm seeing lots of comparisons to Conjuring and Ouija: Origin Of Evil, but it reminded me a lot of Sinister 2.

Also dug the nods to Cathy's Curse and Pet Sematary (even including a cameo from Victor Pascow in the opening scenes).

I also saw Logan Lucky this afternoon and loved that! Annabelle isn't bad if you need a horror fix, but if you're making a trip to the movies I'd go for Logan instead.

I just watched this for a second time and loved it even more. The end provided a couple of nerdgasm moments that I haven't enjoyed with a horror film in years.
