So the blob is not going to be a blob? I'm getting more of a Thing vibe here than Alien or Predator. Don't know what he means by that but I am curious.

I love The Blob (1988) and Shawnee Smith. So glad I got the Twilight Time BD.

Well no problems with a different kind of blob.

They already changed the blob in the 1988 version, when it turned out to be an bacteria experiment gone wrong, crashing back to earth, instead of something from an proper meteor, in the 1958 version.

The creature itself was also very different in the 1988 version, as it was faster, and could swing "tentacles" around.

So if they changed the blob in the 1988 version, I don't see how any new changes would be a problem.

Isn't that the point with a remake, adding a new twist tot he original idea? ;)

I have no problems with an all-CGI Blob. As long as it's well done, of course. Like Hedorah, it's one classic monster that could really benefit from it.

CG in a lot of fantasy movies are so over-thought that they appear too "squishy" or bounce-y. Everything has to move on creatures; I can pretty much hear the effects artists at their computer screens saying, "...okay because this limb moves, these muscles have to move and the impact tremors happen here..." and it just ends up looking no better than vintage effects from older films.
With that, maybe those overly fluid movements will become the Blob (?).

    The Smog Monster?
That could be a great remake.
