Don, I'm actively asking you NOT to put out Blood Diner, good lord that movie is awful. That said, I usually buy or rent anything Synapse does, because of what I do for a living I have an undying appreciation for Synapse's transfers.
Check out DVDaf peoples. Code Red is putting out God's Bloody Acre (1975) sometime in the future. As well, Scorpion Releasing will be giving us the Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing horror, Nothing But the Night (1972) (aka, The Devil's Undead)
Not listed ............ yet. But then again, Forced Entry has been listed as coming soon forever without a release date.
Has Code Red abandoned their release of "The Nesting" (1981)? It was announced on their website several years ago but I haven't seen any reference to it since. With "The Visitor" finally getting a release (fingers crossed) I got to wondering about this one. Most of their other announced titles have come through or are at least still in the works according to the blog updates. Is there not enough demand for this title?
I think Code Red's pretty much abandoned all their "promised" releases. There's no more activity on the blog, they don't come on here anymore etc.
Yeah. They announced over a year ago that some rights for it fell through due to a screw-up in a form or something, and they can't get to it. Aww..
Awww, I missed that update. Too bad. I'm sure there wasn't a huge demand for that one but it was one of those early 80s horrors that made an impression on me as a kid. Thanks for the info, Body Boy.
SHIT!! I really wanted The Nesting. I remember seeing that in the 80's and although it wasn't the best horror film, I had a spot in my heart for it.
That's a bummer,it was among a handful of 80's flicks that I was still really hoping would get a solid DVD release.
it would have been nice, but I just found a clamshell VHS of it for $1 at a flea market. Now I have two copies of it, so I'm not too worried if it ever comes to dvd
Is THAT really their answer? The rights fell through all right... because they never owned the proper rights to begin with. We know the person who owns the rights to THE NESTING pretty well... we've known the guy for years. When he heard that Code Red had announced THE NESTING without even bothering to properly license the correct rights, he sent them a cease-and-desist. THAT's the reason it dropped out of sight so fast... Code Red never had the proper rights and were putting out a bootleg version. By the way, the fellow is not interested in licensing out the rights and is saving the film for his son, who will take over THE NESTING, and many other films rights, when he gets around to it.
Goddammit.... I KNEW that's what the case was. And I'm willing to put all my money on that being the reason why "Nightmare" will never see the light of day on the Code Red label and why they're too chicken shit to even mention the film anymore. [Comment removed by moderator. No personal attacks.]
