I have never seen Spasms but the premise sounds fun- I was checking some reviews on IMDB and there are a few positive and a lot of really negative reviews - not sure if worth a blind buy or not- hmmmm

The premise and artwork/promotional images for Spasms are awesome, but the movie is sloppy, cheap, and boring as all hell. Even drunken Oliver Reed can't save this mess.

That Almost Human cover art is misleading as fuck.
    It's an action/thriller, and not a horror movie o_O

Is there at least more snake action than Venom? That one only had about 2 mins of snake stuff.

This one has me at Tangerine Dream score.

Wow, that's not what I was expecting at all. That cover definitely makes it look like a horror movie.

There are a few great set pieces - however...there is a tad bit of difference between the "snake" cam and the actual snake (which looks good). It may remind you of the camera work in Alien 3. The POV camera is sometimes too swift - even for the actors. But you might enjoy it. The ending is a bit rushed, though.
Venom's slithery beastie is rooted firmly in reality compared to this one, though.

I received the Spasms and Almost Human discs today.

Spasms is "mostly" a massive upgrade over the older DVD. The transfer from the film elements looks really great. The bad news is the SD inserts for the missing footage. That footage doesn't really look too bad from just browsing through, but I don't know for sure if it includes any of the "damaged" footage that was on the old DVD or not.

No bonus features except we do get an SD trailer for Spasms this time around, and some other Code Red trailers.

Yeah, it looks good from the trailer, but I'd be pissed if I'd brought it based on the sleeve and it's horror side. Very very misleading.

Spasms looks pretty damn good, even with the standard def inserts.

Ronin are having a Spring 50% sale on a lot of older Code Red (and some Scorpion) titles:

You do have to purchase 5 or more to get the 50% prices, but it's still a great deal. I picked these 7 titles up on the sale, which I never sprung for at the original prices:

    Goodbye Gemini - Blu-ray SR1104 $29.95 1 $29.95
    Race for Glory - Blu-ray CR0145 $24.99 1 $24.99
    Fred Williamson Collection - Volume 3: Mr. Mean / Joshua - Blu-ray CR0047 $22.99 1 $22.99
    Sweet Baby Charlie (The Sadist) - Blu-ray CR0146 $22.99 1 $22.99
    Cry of a Prostitute - Blu-ray CR0124 $22.95 1 $22.95
    Corrupt - Blu-ray CR0129 $22.95 1 $22.95
    The Slasher (So Sweet, So Dead) - Blu-ray CR0131 $22.95 1 $22.95

    Subtotal $84.92
    NORMAN Discount $-84.85
    Shipping (Economy USPS Shipping) $0.00

    Total $84.92

Thanks for the heads up, Kat. Picked up a few I'd been holding back on. Nice they have these occasional sales.

    No problem. ;)

I'm glad I got in on the sale early, as all of the titles I needed were still in stock. It looks like 2 of them are now showing as "Sold Out" on the sale.

As usual, they raised the prices for the sale. Of course, cheaper is cheaper, so I grabbed 5 titles anyway. Pisses me off since I bought 3 last week that are part of the sale.
