never knew that this film had cuts, reading about slightly longer gore shots, does anyone know if this new release is completely uncut?
My bloody valentine was great though. had those cuts been left in, with the quality of the R rated version, would have been the best. those make up effects were awesome. they could have left the hot dog boiling scene in though.. not sure why that was cut..
I'm still hopeful they'll eventually find the cuts from HBTM and patch the film up. I'm not holding my breath but I'd buy that edition in a heartbeat.
Got mine today, excellent package! Finally got it right, love they finally added the original mono track , the 2nd track is the one that has those enhanced effects when Bernadette gets her throat cut and gregs weight scene. hated that. so glad we finally got the original mono track on blu-ray. Picture always looked good on both dvd and blu-ray, great booklet and finally original artwork. shame it took so long to get this right..
John from Powerhouse told me earlier that John Carpenter gave them approval to use some of his work as extras on those Blu-rays, so we should see some brand new extras there also.
Nothing wrong with that, IMO. Twilight Time and Mill Creek have had a virtual monopoly over the Sony back catalog for far too long. If nothing else, at least it's not yet another company going after MGM's titles.
Checked out the commentary, had high hopes for this one and it was a bit of a let down, compared to their others, I thought they would have been more insightful about the filming. An article in a 2004 fangoria was excellent and way better than this. They told specific details like it was filmed during the summer of 1980 ect...
I thought the commentary was very insightful actually. They talked about the Canadian film industry at the time and My Bloody Valentine and certain themes within the film. If you already know that the movie was shot in the summer of 1980, why would you need them to repeat that information? It's a good thing that they didn't simply rehash information from a fangoria article. I wanna hear something that I HAVEN'T heard before. ~Matt

Purchased! I'm thankful they didn't "grindhouse" up the artwork like they do to most films these days. Can't wait to get and thanks for all the info here.
I know really, can't believe they went through all that trouble to restore the uncut on my bloody valentine, only to market the film like it was new.. and not use original art..

Hey guys- I am looking at picking this up because I love this movie, but was hoping you could clear something up for me from somebody who has purchased it. I am looking at the info posted on the ebay auction for the Indicator release and a review on blu-ray.com and am seeing that it says it's a region B release. However, I have also read that it's region free. I have a PS3 I use to play all my blus on. Will it work on this?
Indicator has stated on their Twitter account that ALL their current and future Sony acquisitions are Region Free.
