Totally! I wasn't going spend £40 on a BD just for the cover. Maybe it'll drop in price eventually...

That looks like an Aussie set. I'll definitely be getting this. Just have to get the original book now.

If this had the director's cut in HD instead of SD then I'd really want this but I already have the theatrical cut in HD and the director's cut in SD on the UK BD release so the only real draw here for me would be the packaging.

The article indicates it only has the TC in HD. The DC is in SD. It's probably from the same master Anchor Bay used. I doubt the HD transfer of the TC is any better than the Universal.

MGM seems to be the only company with their hands on a good version of the DC. I hope they pony up for an HD release it also give us another chance at an improved transfer (over Universal's lackluster effort).

Yea I was hoping because MGM was mentioned that the DC would be the full, good quality one.

Plus it's disappointing that the DC isn't in HD.

Thankfully this isn't a must buy for me. I still have Anchor Bay's Limited 2 disc numbered DVD set which came out way back in 1999 as well as Universal's Screwhead Blu-ray. I also have the book of the dead editions of Evil Dead 1 & 2, however I took the discs out and put them in blank cases as to not scratch them. I don't even know if I still have the books.

Once again, see these pictures being posted the book looks nothing like that it really looks like a home made job. Theres was picture in the australian forum on bluray .com until their site crash yesterday. Just really want to warn people before they waste money. And the bluray is still the screwhead edition. Just a port with an au rating

Glad I held off. I really wanted to complete the necronomicon set but I'll wait. I've got the foreign MGM release to hold me off until a better one comes along, and I only paid 10 dollars for it haha.

I've never even bothered buying the Screwhead Edition Blu-ray, since it's the theatrical version and has issues with the transfer.

If MGM or somebody else would release the director's cut in HD, I'd be all over it. Until then, the R3 MGM DVD has kept me happy enough.

Does anyone know if the DC here is the good quality one? I saw the MGM logo on the cover so I'm curious.

The R3 Hong Kong is by far the best release of the director's cut. The trasnfers is taken directly from original 35mm elements and features a 5.1 track, plus most of the extras from the Anchor Bay release of the DC.

Yea I've got a rip of it on my computer. It looks really good.

I was asking if this Book of the Dead edition contains that print or the cruddy looking one?
