Here's some pictures of my copy that I just went out and bought today.
These are some pictures of the shoddy glue job done with this release. It's a shame because apart from this and the fact that the book is tight and doesn't lay open willingly, this book isn't too bad. The pages are a little more glossy in comparison to the part 2 BOTD as well and as seen above, the discs aren't package in and easy to remove slip which is annoying.
Here's a comparison the Army book (left) next to the part 2 book (right). Surprisingly the new book looks more like a part 2 book than an Army one (which it really doesn't resemble at all).
ZD, does it smell so strongly of rubber/glue like the Anchor Bay DVD book editions did?
Neither of my BOTD editions really smelt strong or badly. It does smell a little, especially if you stick where you can see the actual glue near your nose but it's not overpowering or bad.
Great pics Zombie Dude. I really want to pick this up to complete my collection but money is a little tight right now so I might have to hold off for awhile.
Thanks mate. Sure this edition isn't perfect but it's cool to have AOD in a Book of the Dead.
Funnily enough there's an illustration in the book of the Necronomicon from this film. It would have been nice to have the book packaging look like that.
The book design and the fact that they didn't (couldn't?) track down the good quality directors cut for blu are the biggest letdown of this release.
I'll comment on the disc when I get around to watching them. Someone said this has the cruddy version of the directors cut but I'm not 100% sure.
And you can... and very cheap.
I bought mine last year.
I would like to see MGM release the DC on BD. Are their BDs in that region (Hong Kong) playable in US players without any modifications?
The two HK MGM Blu-rays I have (Poltergeist 2 & 3) are region free and play fine.
Man, I don’t know…something about that Necronomicon looks off to me. Maybe if Diabolik gets these in, I may drop some cash on one, but I ain’t in no rush.
Zombie Dood - what happens when you press the left eye on the Book of the Dead from ED II?
The thing screams! It's awesome
I gotta say that the AOD book looks like a great ED2 replica book. Apart from the shoddy job they did of sealing the thing together, I think it's a great package.
