Arrow Films posted their second quarter announcements today on Facebook. Titles include the following:

    Brian De Palma's SISTERS (1973) -- 4/14/14

    Godfrey Reggio's KOYAANISQATSI (1982) / POWAQQATSI (1988) -- 4/21/14

    Menahem Golan's THE DELTA FORCE (1986) -- 4/28/14

    Douglas Hickox's THEATRE OF BLOOD (1973) -- 4/28/14
    Steelbook also available

    Philippe Mora's THE BEAST WITHIN (1982) -- 5/5/14

Roger Corman's THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (1961) -- 5/12/14
    Steelbook also available

    Elio Petri's L'ASSASSINO (1961) -- 5/19/14

    Bob Clark's PORKY'S (1981) -- 5/26/14
    Steelbook also available

THE COMPLETE DR. PHIBES -- 6/9/14
includes Robert Fuest's The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) & Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972)

    Fernando Di Leo's MILANO CALIBRE 9 (1972) -- 6/16/14

    Joe Dante's THE 'BURBS (1989) -- 6/23/14
    Steelbook also available

CAMERA OBSCURA: THE WALERIAN BOROWCZYK COLLECTION -- 6/30/14
includes Theatre of Mr & Mrs Kabal (1967), Goto, Isle of Love (1968), Blanche (1971), Immoral Tales (1974) & The Beast (1975) and a lot of shorts

Pretty good line-up! I'm all over the PHIBES set, THEATRE OF BLOOD, SISTERS and THE 'BURBS, and will grab the Borowczyk set if I can get it for a good price. I didn't grab the domestic Price set in hopes that my favorites would get released separately -- looks like my wishes were granted. Most of the rest I'm already good with from domestic discs. (CALIBER 9 from Raro, the 'QATSI films from Criterion, DELTA FORCE and PORKY'S from MGM, BEAST WITHIN from Shout, etc.)

So many great announcements! I'll hold off on pre-ordering until I hear how the bonus features compare to their US counterparts.

Really looking forward to the Borowczyk Collection, I think that these may be the first English-friendly Borowczyk BDs to hit the market. Already got mine pre-ordered by backing their Goto: Island of Love restoration on Kickstarter, can't wait!

That one is actually 20th Century Fox. :D It should be great though, if they have some new extra features!

The Dr. Phibes set should be great too. I'm not sure if Shout has any plans to release the sequel here in the states or not?

Haha, I'm at work and was trying to hurry -- cut me some slack!

I saw PORKY'S on cable at my cousin's house sometime in the early '80s. I was way young and it was the first time I ever saw bush!

Criterion is working on a blu of SISTERS, correct? I'll wait and see what the reviews are like because I may not be able to wait (a la SCANNERS).

I think he's saying he'll wait for reviews on the Arrow release, because he may not be able to wait even longer for the Criterion release.

I'd be interested to see what's in that Qatsi boxset, but will most likely stick with the Criterion release...why didn't they include NAQOYQATSI?

Either way that is one hell of a line up. Can't wait for those steelbooks.

Jesus Christ this looks sweet. I like Arrow's art more often than Shout's. The art for The 'Burbs is very retro-looking. Well-done.

Oh man, I'm definitely down for Porky's, Sisters and The 'burbs!

As for Calibro 9, I already own the Di Leo boxset from Raro, so I won't double dip on that one.

NAQOYQATSI is controlled by a different licensor -- the other two are MGM.

A couple of questions for people in the USA who've ordered direct from Arrow:

How early do they generally ship out pre-orders before the release date?

Do they pack the stuff (i.e. Steelbooks) well?

They usually ship out their preorders well before release date. I usually end up receiving the disc a week before it's scheduled release...some times later or sooner.

They pack OK...steel books are wrapped in bubble wrap and inserted into a well fitted cardboard mailer. So it's not loose inside the mailer.

I have not had a problem ordering from Arrow, and I have been doing it for a while now...knock on wood.

I've ordered direct from Arrow twice since December, and was very pleased with them. Both orders arrived in the U.S. in about 7 days, which was much faster than I expected.

I really like their Reward Points system. I think they give you 100 points just for registering (1 pound) and you can redeem them immediately. So if you use your points every time, you usually save a couple bucks off every order. Or you could always save them up instead and get a free movie in the long run.

I may have to look into that! I've been importing most of my films from amazon.uk as they don't charge you their VAT tax, but I wonder if you would save more ordering direct from Arrow using their points program?
