Basket case and last house , two of my all time faves. Cannot wait to see what arrow can do with the transfer, last house is never going to look "good", but seeing what they were able to do with hills I am excited.

There was some talk a couple of months back, that Arrow were going to start releasing movies on 4K UHD Blu-ray this year. I really hope this is still happening.

Mike Hewitt of Arrow Video said, that they are at a point now, where they can release a movie on UHD, and break even.

Link to the article on a norwegian site.

I hope that The Thing and Deep Red is among their first UHD releases.

Very interesting, but I would think they're looking to do more than break even! I expect eventually they will see it as wholly profitable. UHD releases this year seems a little too optimistic based on what they've said.

The Thing from Arrow seems unlikely as, with an of the majors, Universal will want to do a release first. I expect Universal will be releasing it sooner rather than later since they just did a 4k master. I don't know how strict their current agreements with Arrow/Shout are at the moment.

Arrow releasing something like Deep Red is entirely possible however. Those license holders don't have distribution arms of their own so they'll be entirely willing to license out to any and all new mediums.

Yeah, I don’t know. You can’t make a living by simply breaking even. Unless these guys are already independently wealthy and are putting out movies for kicks I don’t see why they would do that.

Amazon's price matched Walmart on Deep Red for $22.09.

Took them nearly a week. I'd almost wonder if they were holding off hoping Walmart would blink first. But this isn't that big enough of a seller, so Amazon wouldn't even flutter an eyelid over it.

Had to bite on that Deep Red disc. I wasn't going to get it, as I'm pretty happy with Blue Underground's, but at that price I couldn't pass it up. Really do love the Arrow discs.

Just proof there's no requirement to be an internet movie reviewer. I should know.

Seriously though, it's not very insightful, the reviewer's English skills are sub-par, and I swear if anyone refers to the coincidental titling of the first three Argento films as a planned "Animal Trilogy" one more time, I'm gonna kill myself by drinking an entire bottle of J&B whiskey.

I can't remember if I wrote a few words on this one or not, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself. But I watched Arrow's disc of Scalpel a week or so ago and LOVED it! Not necessarily horror, but equal doses campy and Hitchcockian. Super fun mistaken identity thriller (interestingly enough, from the director of Blood Rage, which also involves one actor playing dual roles). You can tell the movie is just trying to have fun, as evidenced by some of the macabre tongue-in-cheek humor, such as the shockingly funny flashback of the mother's drowning. Love the southern feel of the movie, and the gorgeous mansion in the film (which will also be featured in the upcoming Melissa McCarthy comedy Life Of The Party). Supposedly the Georgia mansion was the inspiration for the mansion in Margaret Mitchell's novel Gone With The Wind.

Arrow includes two different versions of the movie on their disc, each with a different color grade. The DP preferred version is bathed in yellows and green to give it a southern gothic look, and the Arrow version presents the film in natural colors. I went with the Arrow grade and it looked gorgeous, as to expect from Arrow. I don't know what they do that makes their transfers so above and beyond everyone else.

Even though it's not horror, it would make a perfect companion to their American Horror Project boxset. Still hoping for a follow-up to that set, and if they can dig up more gems like Scalpel, boy are we in for a treat!
