I'm confused. Doesn't Scream/Shout already put out their own versions of previously released titles in the US.

I don't see how Arrow can't put out their own versions.

On a side note, this is all good news to me anyway. Since I don't buy Region 2 DVD/Blu's.

Arrow's $100,000.00 goal has been met successfully with a little over a month left to go. The 10 year plans are gone. The 3 year plans are now 5 year plans and there two left for $1,500.00/each.

Great news. I want Arrow blu-rays without the cost to import and the pain in the ass of only being able to play them on region-free units. Which, despite everything everyone says, is a pain in the ass. I want all my blus to play wherever I go.

True, but Arrow still won't be able to release everything over here that they also do in the UK. Region licensing will restrict some of the releases to only one or the other.

I honestly just don't even worry about regions anymore, at all. Get a solid region-free Blu-ray player and a program like AnyDVD HD installed on your computers, and you're home free.

Code Red's Bill is apparently shitty about this. From FB:

I'm not sure how to link the one post from Facebook otherwise I would include that too.

^I'm not surprised Arrow made their goal, but I am a little surprised at how little they actually announced for the US before making that goal, and I think that's probably the source of his frustration. Thus far, there's two or three titles I almost certainly wouldn't buy at any price-point, and only one that I feel pretty confident about buying.

Day of Anger is one of my most anticipated titles at the moment.

Not what I was expecting, I might of kicked in a bit had I otherwise known. But then I expected they'd hit their goals. The Happiness of the Katakuris would be sweet; my DVD's still hard-matted full frame I think. I'll have to check out Massacre Gun and Retaliation too.

There was probably a time when Code Red could have done something like a Kickstarter, but now they've alienated a lot of fans and their star titles are already on most people's shelves (who care for them). At the same time there's not a lot of overlap here with what Bill's trying to sell. He's openly passed on these kinds of movies and says he focuses mostly on North American doesn't he? I don't see Arrow eating their lunch, these are mostly different fan bases.

It's too bad though that when Tom Savini or Stuart Gordon/Jeffery Combs use Kickstarter they're nowhere near the threshold. They need to take a page out of Kevin Smith's book and learn how he does it now. But I digress...

I'm only curious to see The Happiness of the Katakuris at the moment as it looks wacky and the claymation is cool.
I think it's likely Arrow will try and acquire more known films as this grown for them.

A little off topic but does anyone know which film this comes from (taken from the Arrow trailer).

    Thank you!

That looks like it's from Deadly Blessing but I'm not 100% sure.

Ok I just googled it, it's definitely Deadly Blessing.

I'm honestly not feeling anything good about Arrow's future in general. So far they haven't announced anything that interests me and my overall gut feeling tells me they have turned their noses up at cult horror and exploitation films in favor of more artsy fare. Not necessarily a bad thing UNLESS that is all you're aiming for. The US already has the Criterion label, which is doing just fine. Do we really need another Criterion?

Personally no, I don't think we need another Criterion. I hope they're not just aiming for artsy stuff because I have little to no interest in those type of films.

I don't think they've given up on horror, exploitation or cult cinema, but, if the US titles are indicative of the direction they'll be going as a dual territory distributor, they seem to be focusing outside of the UK and the US/Canada for their fix. There's definitely a "World cinema" flavor to the titles they've been announcing, which isn't a bad thing, necessarily. International horror cinema isn't particularly well represented in either North America or the UK.
