I just got done seeing this movie "Babysitter Wanted". Holly cow, what fun, and actually pretty freaky ass movie! I did not expect what the turn out would be on this one. If you have yet to see it, by all means check this one out. I am sure you'll enjoy it like I did. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0819755/ It says it a true story; But I do not believe it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0giuz3mFkyc http://www.babysitterwantedfilm.com/ :nervous:
I watched this movie on VOD and didn't care for it. The story jumps all over the place from babysitter stalker movie to slasher movie to cannibal movie to satanic movie to torture porn and none of it really works. On top of that, Bruce Thomas's performance is WAY over the top and not in a good way.
I'm not sure if we were supposed to be rooting for Bruce, but I certainly wanted that uptight christian and her personality-less male friend dead. I can't think of one good thing about this movie. Meeting your romantic interest on the way into/out of a confessional? Only in a giallo, thank you very much.
Yeah, I didnt buy this one either. Turned it off after about 40 minutes, couldnt take anymore of perfect-Christian-girl saying everything she was thinking to the camera. And things were made really painfully obvious right off the bat. "Oh, this is Timmy. He never speaks, and ONLY feed him the contents of these suspicious containers."
Just watched this the other day. I actually enjoyed this film. I liked the Christian aspect of the film. It's nice to see a pretty girl who isnt a whore in a horror film, and a guy who is nice and isn't a jock/stoner etc. The first half was pretty suspenseful, the 'twist' is nice, but was a litte over the top. I'd give it a 4/5 for good atmosphere, direction, musical score, and chase sequences. -MATT-
Of course. the movie direction was a stalker that is the killer right? And I bet you you had it all under your belt on what was going on. That is what I liked about it. The stalker was not what you thought it was. Oh well... can't please everyone. HHAHA!
Just saw this and thought it was excellent. This and House of the Devil would make great double bill.
I didn't like this film either. Not because of the Christian girl, who was the only good thing about the movie IMO. It was just not a good movie at all... no suspense and silly plot twists. And why Spoiler did it seem like the priest was tormenting her? Wasn't it him following her around and didn't his face appear demonic in her class? Then once you find out he's a priest the villains become the parents of the kid. It was just stupid.
I saw this a few months ago and remember liking it well enough. Nothing to extraordinary but above average.
dvd and blu-ray is finally coming out on may 25th click here for cover art http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/19549/
I thought this movie had a cool concept but the delivery was...not so good. The twist came too early and then the movie devolved into a typical slasher chase film. Too bad, cause the build up was pretty good.
I had a good time with this one. I enjoyed the overall atmosphere and the off-kilter originality. I didn't find the plot twists any less believable than what generally happens in most horror films of this kind. Also interesting that actor Michael Manasseri (Weird Science series, License to Drive) was one of the two Directors.
I liked it. The best part for me was the believability of the babysitter. Her reactions and dialogue felt very "real". I didnt love the plot twist, and I would hesitate to recommend this to just anyone, but definitely worth a rental.
After expecting nothing from this, I had a really good time with it. I thought it was a well done mix of House of the Devil and The Servants of Twilight with a bit of Hostel thrown in to keep the gore factor up. I could see the plot twist coming a mile away, but the movie still worked quite well for me because of the performances. Kind of funny, Spoiler I had no idea who the actor who played the father was but I kept thinking he kind of reminded me of a subdued Bruce Campbell if Bruce where to ever play a bad guy...turns out he was mini Ash in Army of Darkness!
Finally saw this last night and was expecting a typical good time torture porn extravaganza but found myself pleasantly disappointed. I was totally creeped out during the first half and loved the take on the devout Christian girl. Having had an overly religious upbringing, I can attest to the fact that many of these people are holier-than-thou, judgemental hypocrites, but I honestly can't remember the last time I saw one portrayed in a film in a positive light. Maybe Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music? The big reveal came as a total shocker to me as I was expecting all sorts of other possible scenarios, and was a major letdown until the fun began. The absolute turn this movie took from serious horror movie to borderline parody, although offputting at first, ended up being a really fun time and I'm glad I stuck it out until the end.
