I've always known it wasn't in the PD anyway.
There have been a number of compilations with the film on them that were just sourced from the AB disc without permission, even Mill Creek put it out in a 50 dvd pack.
What?? Which pack?
That one from 2005
But I bought it back in 2008, so it was probably remove from the other printing since Mill Creek remove a film when they are told to do so.
Yeah, I have that original set from 2005 which includes Bad Taste in it. I'm not sure if that was the only film later removed from the set or not though...
On a related note, years ago I rented Meet the Feebles from Netflix, whom had the Jef films version, I ended up buying it right away because I thought it was a legit label, little did I know they bilked me twice, Monster Dog being the other release.
What does that mean?
I have the Substance disc of Meet the Feebles. No trailer but... the movie's on there.
I think he means it's a bootleg, just like almost all Substance/JEF/Televista releases are.
Another pack that has Bad Taste.
Since both are Peter Jackson films (Bad Taste/Feebles) - just pointed out both have been bootlegged or issued without having the rights. I was shocked that Netflix actually physically stocked bootlegs.
My experience with bootlegs is literal copies of studio releases (Disney Platinum / Anniversary Editions, Tales from the Crypt sets - those bootlegs are easy to spot after what I've been through).
I actually didn't think the quality on the Substance DVD was that bad. But I think I did notice some horrendous interlacing. (But I've got Bad Taste on Anchor Bay's 2-disc - it's the only way to own the film... until Blu-Ray, I guess. Although, frankly, I'm a little disappointed there's no THX logo on the cover, to stamp it as a release in the line of Halloween, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Suspiria, Opera, and Near Dark. There's only a THX on the single-disc edition cover.)
Too bad those pre-Bad Taste short movies mentioned/shown in the documentary wasn't included on disc 2.
No, it´s not...
Universal put out a better version in Australia as well.
But at this point I'd wait for the Blu-ray's of his gore trilogy. Supposedly they'll start working on it after The Hobbit, but they keep moving the goal post. Meet the Feebles needs a decent release the most, I don't think anyone's done a proper transfer on that. I have the ultra dark Dead-Alive DVD which I suspect is also a bootleg.
I didn't mean the only available edition, I meant "the only way to go." The only rational choice for region 1. Remember- I don't do alternate regions. "Hi, I'm That Guy." Which makes sense if you can only name one movie that you believe you think sounds better in PAL audio. Do they use NTSC in Australia? (Not a serious question.)
That is nice packaging! I fondly recall when I bought my local video stores copy of Bad Taste around 20 years ago every copy had a sticker over the offending finger.
I think that's a German release.
Yes it is, and a very spectacular one. It´s a tin, and you can still get it very, very, very cheap...
