Freddy's Dead! It's the most underrated of all the Nightmare films! Even though it's crap it's fun crap and has some cool moments. I'd even vote for it in the hall of frame
I don't think either one is very good but I think Freddy's Dead is more fun.
Two main differences betwwen the two. Part 6 is a comedy and part 2 is what Freddy is meant to be dark, evil and serious.
A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
No. 2 is my fave and 6 is OK, kinda goofy though.
Oh shit, I thought it was New Nightmare not Freddy's Dead.
Please move my vote to 2. Despite the homosexual overtones it's far better than FD.
 At least you didn't fuck up as bad as I did.
Freddy's Revenge, BY FAR. I've always loved that film. I might even go so far as to say it's the best of the series.
Not crazy about either one, but I chose Freddy's Dead. I still think part 3: Dream Warriors is the best sequel.
I would have to go so far as to agre with you.
liked both went with part 2 more campy fun
I thought #2 was the second best in the series (behind the first). I think they went in order of greatness.
I always heard how lousy #2 was from friends but when I finally saw it, I thought it was great!
Freddy's Dead on the other hand is the only Nightmare movie that I hate.
I enjoyed Part 2. Yeah the whole story was kinda stupid, but it was how Freddy was supposed to be. Scary and violent! Freddy's Dead was horrible, prob. the only movie in the bunch that I really dislike. Whole movie was just a big joke! I mean come on, Roseanne was in it!
I'm kind of with-Natas on the subject of the Nightmare sequels. There was a time where I just couldn't watch The Dream Child without sticking my tongue out (and on that day, I was a pretty fair Freddy's Dead apologist) but now I uniformly enjoy all the pre-New Nightmare films so much more than I used to. (As for New Nightmare, it's just a bit too dry. And, now that I've seen The Player... yeah, not only is NN a test drive for Scream, it's also a pretty blatant riff on Altman's film. Which is just so much better.)
As for Freddy's Dead vs. Freddy's Revenge- it's obviously a case of FD's loose, flabby, electric Looney Tunes' surrealism and FR's much better taut, quiet, intriguing nightmares bleeding subtly into reality. As far as the franchise is concerned, I still prefer The Dream Master as the definitive sequel. But there's a lot of great, crowning moments in FR. I just don't think it's as strong a film overall as Dream Warriors, Dream Master, New Nightmare (and, yeah that's saying something), and maybe Dream Child at this juncture.
Nightmare 2, though I'm not a huge fan of either film. I love the poster (it hangs in my office). The soundtrack is good even though it deviates from the main Elm Street theme. Mainly, Freddy looks great and Kim Myers looks even better. I have no positives for Freddy's Dead.
Freddy's Revenge: Nightmare 2
I have grown to not dislike NoES2's score... but when I first noticed the whole Why Would You Change It So Drastically?, it was right around the time I saw Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn... and I hate what they did with that score.
So... the deviating issue is a very big one with me when it comes to scores.
I think the change of the score with NOES2 is addressed on the Never Sleep Again documentary. As far as Evil Dead 2, I couldn't begin to fathom a guess.
