I am completely with you on this one. It's a Freaks and Geeks thread just waiting to happen if there is not one already. I don't think there is.

This list is sadly incomplete...but I voted for Ginger snaps anyway...Have to give it to the special effects men at work...as well as the great casting of Ginger and whoever the F#*% the other girl was. Lately the gorier the better, and black christmas doesn't come close to this film regarding gore factor.

What do you mean "whoever the F#*% the other girl was" Emily Perkins stole the show in Ginger snaps IMHO. I would even put her up with Angela Bettis as the top two genre actresses around right now.

I would agree with that, Emily Perkins was clearly the best actor in the Ginger Snaps movies. I hope she stays with horror movies in the same way that Anglea Bettis seems to be doing. So that way Gothic Queen can know exactly who the F*ck the other girl is. :D

Just bought the Changling and will be giving that a watch today, so I'll be casting my vote tonight. It's between that and Videodrome which is my current favorite.

Voted for 1. Black Christmas (DUH!). It's my favourite horror film of all time so this was easy.
    2. Ginger Snaps Trilogy (or I'd have to list them all separately and two of the other movies on this list would get knocked off)
    3. My Bloody Valentine
    4. Shivers
    5. Rituals
    6. Scanners
    7. Rabid
    8. Happy Birthday To Me
    9. Pin
    10. Nightbreed (If this is considered Canadian)

Too bad. We really do need an updated one. I mean Rituals isn't even on the list!!
Of course, I'd still be voting for Black Chirstmas anyway.

Yeah, we definitely need to do a new one. If I were to do this again I would definitely add:

    Deranged
    Deathdream
    The Pit
    Pin
    Rituals
    Spasms
    The Mask (1961)
    The Gate
    Visiting Hours

Have a go at 'er, Ash!

Rabid. And The Changling a close second. Is Death Dream Canadian? If so, honorable mention to that as it's one of my favorites, and a great horror movie that I feel often gets over-shadowed by Black Christmas, which is great in its own right. Just thought I'd mention that.

I originally voted for Black Christmas, but now I'd go with either The Brood or Videodrome.

    Black Christmas (1974)

Another good one that isn't on the list is Death Weekend. It's a Deliverance style film that Ivan Reitman produced before turning into a comedy director.

Wait, DERANGED is Canadian? I like that better than any of the others listed.
