Vampires, because it's really good! Ghosts of Mars suffers, methinks, for an abundance of dissolve cuts. I don't think I've ever seen so many in a single film. Almost every single cut is a dissolve! I haven't seen Village for ages, but somehow I imagine that the special combination of Christopher Reeve and Kirstie Alley in a Carpenter film is enough for me to love it when I revisit it some time in the future.
Yeah I too enjoy Vampires quite a bit. James Woods is bad ass in it, it has some sweet gore, and the opening is awesome! Ghost of Mars I picked up for like $4, and was still disappointed by it. Other then a head chop or two, I wasn't impressed by this movie at all. Village I haven't seen in a while, but don't remember enjoying it too much. If I find it cheap I'll have to check it out again though.
I'd say Vampires as well, but I'd like to point out that it was almost universally despised when it was new. I guess Ghosts of Mars put it in some perspective.
I'm gonna have to go (like all the rest) ahead and say Vampires here, although I haven't seen it, but the other two were really lacking. They had their parts, but God damn! I still won't go ahead and vote in the poll though until giving the others their fair chance.
I thought Vampires started well but fell apart after the Motel massacre. Village was totally crap Ghosts whilst very derivitave of New York and Assault, was still fun and for Carpenter, surprisingly vicious.
I'm probably in the wrong forum because when I read the thread title, my first thought was the 1989 TV movie, The Karen Carpenter Story...
