The first one was alot of fun and in some ways a dream come true as many of us had wished a killer would show up on the real show ha ha wasn't anywhere near as good as Hatchet for me, also lets not forget the Hatchet series is slasher/comedy and Green just wanted to make horror fun again which it had not been for years

The sequel was terrible in my opinion

Ah yeah! My Super Psycho Sweet 16 was awesome! I didn't mind Parts 2 and 3, though 3 is easily the worst. The sushi cake!!!

And yeah, MSPS16 is much better at being a throwback than Hatchet, which isn't even a throwback imo.

No way in hell is Super Psycho Sixteen better than any of the Hatchet films. It's an amusing time waster but that's about it.

    Are spoilers allowed here?

I prefer my films to be less... juvenile than the just-for-gore's sake of Hatchet.

    Alright:
The killer(s) in Part 3 were the blonde sister from Part 2, and her boyfriend who she at first pretends to be a stalker. She is annoyed with Skye for ruining her life when she brought her troubles to her that led to her mother and father being murdered at the end of Part 2.

I know this. I respect his opinion on it, I just don't particularly understand it.

But whatever. To each their own.

Do you like 2 best because it has more back story?

Yeah and it was better all around in the violence, acting and plot departments. It's rare I like a sequel so much better. To be honest I was really disappointed with Hatchet, it was touted as being this grand return to real horror and for me it just wasn't. The improvements like Danielle Harris and the story, really made the difference for me. It's a favorite now. 3 was ok

Danielle Harris was terrible in 2, though. I usually love her in movies but her performance was so bad it was embarrassing.

She did a far better job in 3. Although her screen time was much smaller in that one.

Green should have went with her in the first film.

I got his reasoning for not with him already casting so many icons but it ultimately backfired in a way.

To be fair, so are the Hatchet films.

I think the first is a really fun (and funny) little slasher film, but the sequels fall flat. I have to agree with the "juvenile" comment in regards to 2 and 3.

"Look! There's balls on a tree! Those balls are somebody's balls! Balls!"

Also, the black guy singing about chicken and waffles in Hatchet 2.

I did appreciate some of Green's self-deprecating humor, especially the scene in 3 at the jail where Caroline Williams mentions something about how contrived the Victor Crowley legend is, then they cut to Green staring at the camera.

Still, it's tough to complain about either franchise, Hatchet or MSPS16, because I'm just glad there are still slasher franchises at all. I'll take a fun slasher flick any day over the torture / ghost / remake stuff littering the screens these days.
