It's all just a wild stab, isn't it? I mean ALL of them are great. Still, my Criterion of "Fiend Without a Face" is a prized possession, and I'm going for that.

Some good choices, but for me one stands out for maintaining a constant sense of dread - Night of the Demon. Anyone who thinks a little slip of paper can't be terrifying needs to see this film.

Due honor also given to The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Horror of Dracula, The Quatermass Xperiment, Quatermass 2, and "Help me! Help me!" The Fly.

Fiend Without a Face is a gem, too bad I can't get over Tommy Chong in "It Came From Hollywood" saying "I thought we sprayed for brains?".

Count me as a non-fan of The Thing. Didn't scare me, didn't sit well plot wise, and the characters were more two dimensional than the film set. That John Campbell's amazing "Who Goes There?" somehow got warped into this cliched "James Arness channels Frankenstein's monster into a giant carrot" mess was an injustice. Carpenter did a far finer (but still taking some liberties) adaption.

The Blob for me, although I have love for every movie on that list, especially The Bad Seed.

I've seen about half the films on the list, so out of those I would go with EYES WITHOUT A FACE. It is a beautifully shot movie, and the gore in it is the most shocking that I've seen from anything in the 50's. The ending though, is what makes it for me. The final shot is one that lingers on long after the credits roll. Its a gem.
