I'll have to wait until tomorrow to vote because I'm seeing Devil's Rejects then, but so far of the movies that I've seen (Alone in the Dark, The Amityville Horror, Boogeyman, Constantine, Cursed, House of Wax, and Land of the Dead), I would lean towards House of Wax.

Seriously though, did High Tension even get released in Canada or what???

....maybe I'll even wait to vote until I see Dark Water as well.

The Devil's Rejects by far. Although Dominion was also excellent.

Opps sorry I didn't think there was anyone on this board that hadn't yet seen this film. Forget I mentioned it:)

Its a very tough call between Haute Tension and The Devil's Rejects, but since HT had a compromised version released to theaters, it saved me the trouble of debating this in my mind, and I went with the latter. Land of the Dead and Dominion were both excellent as well.

I've actually been thinking the opposite. I thought 1999-2004 was a really great period for horror, but 2005 has been quite disappointing for me overall. The Devil's Rejects is just what 2005's horror scene needed IMO, and hopefully the second half of the year will be more pleasing. That's just my opinion though.

Out of the ones I've seen thus far:

    Constantine
    The Ring Two
    Cursed

    The rest I'm behind on.

Such a huge pile of refuse, with a single pearl dropped in it... Paul Schrader's pearl.

So your saying Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist is better then The Devil's Rejects, Haute Tension and Land of the Dead. Wow, well I haven't seen it yet but they must have really picked the wrong Exorcist Prequel to get a wide release.

Alone in the Dark, baby!!! (the movie I enjoyed the most so far by a long stretch)
    followed by:
    House of Wax
    The Devil's Rejects
    Constantine
and...I guess Land of the Dead by default.

Reeaalllyy tough call for me but I had to give it to Devil's Rejects. LOTD came in second by a whisker. I went with DR because I loved every minute of that film on-screen and while I certainly loved the shit out of LOTD, I had a couple of very minor gripes that kept it from being 1st. Namely the use of obvious CGI (for the record I fucking hate CG with a passion). Otherwise, I might have given tops to LOTD. On a side note, I didnt realize how much crap came out this year until I saw all the choices in this thread. Everything else on the list sucked, with the exception of Haute Tension.

Dude this movie rocked! It was loads better than 1,000 Corpses in every way. Funnier, darker, better acting etc. I just wish I'd seen this sooner in the theaters.

i chose Devils Rejects, though LOTD was really close behind. like KillerCannabis said, this year has sucked for the horror genre, when it comes to US theatrical releases. Hardly any worthwhile flicks. I'm hoping Saw2 turns out decent, though it's rush rush production worries me. I think The Exorcism of Emily Rose will turn out pretty good, as I can't wait to see that.
