Hey guys, this is a tournament to see which film will come out on top as the best horror film ever made. Since this is a tournament, we've got to have it setup with an exponential amount of contestants, and since I have much more than 64, we are going to have to goto 128. Taking all the requests from the thread on the General forum, as well as adding some forgotten classics, I've made up the entire 128 movie list as follows: Advocate, The Alien An American Werewolf in London Amityville Horror, The Angel Heart Army of Darkness Bad Taste Beast Within, The Beautiful Girl Hunter Beyond, The Beyond The Door Bird With The Crystal Plumage, The Black Christmas Blair Witch Project, The Blob, The (1958) Blood Feast Boy Who Cried Werewolf, The Brain Damage Brood, The Burning, The Candyman Cannibal Holocaust Carnival of Souls (1962) Carrie Christine City Of The Living Dead Count Dracula (1970) Combat Shock Creepshow Critters Cube Cujo Dawn of the Dead Day of the Dead Dead Alive Dead Ringers Dead Zone, The Death Game Deep Red Dellamorte Dellamore Demons Dressed To Kill Duel Eraserhead Evil Dead, The Evil Dead II Evil Dead Trap Exorcist, The Exorcist III, The Fearless Vampire Killers Fly, The Fog, The Friday The 13th Friday the 13th – The Final Chapter Fright Night From Dusk ‘Till Dawn Halloween Hellraiser Hills Have Eyes, The Hitcher, The House by the Cemetery House on the Edge of the Park House With Windows That Laugh, The Howling, The I Spit on Your Grave Incredible Melting Man, The Jacob’s Ladder Jaws Jeepers Creepers Killer Klowns From Outer Space Last House on Dead End Street Last House on the Left, The Let’s Scare Jessica to Death Lord of Illusions In the Mouth of Madness Madman Maniac Maximum Overdrive Motel Hell Near Dark Nekromantik New York Ripper Night of the Living Dead (1968) Nightbreed Nightmare City Nightmare in a Damaged Brain Nightmare on Elm Street, A Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens Opera Omen, The Pet Sematary Phantasm Phenomena Poltergeist Possession Prince of Darkness Prom Night Psycho Rabid Re-Animator Return of the Living Dead Return of the Living Dead Part 2 Repulsion Rosemary’s Baby Santa Sangre Scanners Scream Serpent and the Rainbow, The Se7en Shining, The Shivers Silence of the Lambs Silent Night, Deadly Night Sisters Sleepaway Camp Stand, The Street Trash Suspiria Tenebre Terror Train Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Theater of Blood Thing, The Toxic Avenger, The Twilight Zone, The Videodrome When A Stranger Calls Wicker Man, The If there are any problems with this...tough. I want to jump right into things, and obviously everyone is not going to be 100% happy, but I've covered a variety of horror films, by location and by year, so it should be pretty good. The tournament goes as follows: I will plot two of the above films against eachother, and all you have to do is vote for the film that you think is clearly the better horror film. Thew voting period for each set of films will be one day, and after that time, the film with the most votes in each bracket will advance to Round Two, which will commense after all the films in Round One have gone. So eventually, in this process we will get down to a single winner, which will have bragging rights as the "Horrordvds.com Best Horror Film of All Time". Basically, the only rule is you have to have seen both of the films in order to vote. The films going against eachother will be picked in random order to make everything fair. If you have any questions, just ask them in the thread! So let's get this tournament under way! LEGEND: Red means the film has advanced to the next round. Blue means the film has been eliminated from the tournament.
And The Evil Dead is the first to advance into the next round with a whopping 7-0 victory! Round One, Bracket Two Tenebre vs. Poltergeist
First Match-Up was too difficult for me, but this one's a piece o' pie.......TENEBRE.....all the way......
I love Tenebre but I'm going to vote for POLTERGEIST ...one of my favorite scary flicks when I was a kid.
With my vote, Tenebre advances to the second round with a 5-1 victory. I am going to speed things up here and have two brackets going at once to get things moving a little faster. Round One, Bracket Three The Wicker Man vs. Rosemary's Baby Round One, Bracket Four Prince of Darkness vs. Death Game
