Deep Red Lord Of Illusions The Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Brood I was thinking of the unrated directors cut when choosing "Lord Of Illusions". I think, when seen in this version, it's Barker's best film. Chances of it moving on here seem slim at this point though.
My Votes: From Dusk 'Till Dawn In The Mouth of Madness Abstain Carnival of Souls Wow, talk about some close matches! The Brood manages to pull off the largest victory with a 4-2 triumph over the forgotten gem, Carnival of Souls. John Carpenter continues his winning streak as In The Mouth of Madness advances with a slim 5-4 victory over Lord of Illusions. I have yet to see City of the Living Dead (but definitely will now!), but I was not expecting such a strong showing against The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a film which I think is in contention to win the tournament. TCM beat out CotLD by only 2 votes, with a 6-4 victory. And From Dusk 'Till Dawn pulls off the upset in another close match, narrowly beating out Argento's Deep Red with a 6-5 win. All and all a great, nail-biting matchup! Round One, Bracket Thirty Seven The Advocate vs. Christine Round One, Bracket Thirty Eight Cujo vs. Candyman Round One, Bracket Thirty Nine Evil Dead II vs. Maximum Overdrive Round One, Bracket Fourty Eraserhead vs. House on the Edge of the Park
Damn. I didn't get to vote in the last one CHRISTINE CANDYMAN MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (I have a sneaking feeling I may be the only voter for this psycho-machine flick) HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK
Round One, Bracket Thirty Seven skip The Advocate vs. Christine Round One, Bracket Thirty Eight Cujo vs. Candyman Round One, Bracket Thirty Nine Evil Dead II vs. Maximum Overdrive Round One, Bracket Fourty skip Eraserhead vs. House on the Edge of the Park
My Votes: Abstain Cujo Evil Dead II Abstain Eraserhead and House on the Edge of the Park ended up in a 3-3 tie, but after a coin toss, Eraserhead manages to advance to the next round. The other three matchups were not nearly as intense however. Christine manages to shutout The Advocate with a 5-0. Thus far, John Carpenter seems to be the iron man of the tournament, with all of his nominated films so far advancing to the second round. Cujo is no match for Tony Todd, as Candyman slays our four-legged friend 8-4. And in no surprise, Sam Raimi's masterpiece, Evil Dead II beats the truck out of Maximum Overdrive with a 10-1 beating.
