Salem's Lot '79 with The Night Stalker/Night Strangler tied for a close second.

Easily Salem's Lot for me. I first saw that as a young lad and the images of those floating dead kids scratching at the window haunted me for weeks.

When a Stranger Calls Back, although it is nowhere near as good as the first. Duel would be second.

  7. Salem's Lot ( original )
    The Kingdom ( Riget )
    Duel
Helter Skelter ( Steve Railsback peformance is trully amazing and frightning )
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark ( please will they release this on DVD )
Dark Night of the Scarecrow ( again release this on DVD )
    The Night Stalker
There is one from the '70's about a plane that is haunted but i cannot remember the name, i believe it was called ' Ghost of Flight 401' but could be wrong but was a good creepy film.

    Lots of good choices here.

I'm going with Trilogy of Terror, since the last scene still owns me to this very day. :nervous:

Many on that list are great, but Riget (The Kingdom) and Riget II (The Kingdom 2) way in the lead for me. I watch both all the time and never get tired of them.

Also an honorable mention to Grave Secrets starring Patty Duke. I found that to be a very effective and enjoyable TV horror flick.

    100% agree. Easily Salems Lot.

I might have said "Trilogy of Terror" a while ago, but having purchased the DVD, I have found that it hasn't aged all that well - to be honest. It's more comical now than anything else.

  14. It was just down right scary for a made for TV movie! For nearly 4 hours of movie it paced really, really well & the acting was top notch.

Though much is to be said of many others on the list.

Another movie that wasn't horror that scared the hell out of me when i was a kid was the Day After. That traumatized me for years maybe more then any movie.

Went with Helter Skelter (1976 of course) as Railsback performance of Manson was just haunting and gave me nightmares as a kid. Gargoyles, Summer of Fear (Stranger In Our House),Trilogy of Terror, Dark Night of the Scarecrow, and Duel are way up top on my list too.
