I realize this list doesn't include everyone's favorite performances, but in order to make this tournament work, the list had to be trimmed. I tried to cover as many films as possible, and many of these picks are based on your input, so no whining! :D

    The tournament works as follows:

I will be posting 4 brackets a day, consisting of two challengers. You will vote for one actor out of each bracket. You must have seen both performances in a bracket in order to vote. The brackets will be posted for 24 hours until they are closed and the new ones posted. In the event of a tie, I will keep that bracket open until someone can break it. If nobody can break it, then I will use a coin toss to determine the winner. All matches will be picked at random in order to avoid a bias of any kind. The status of each performance will be updated in this post after each bracket comes to a close for those who wish to keep track.

Enough with the mumbo jumbo, let's get down to business! The first four brackets of the tournament will be posted momentarily.

    Remember:

Vote for the quality of the performance, not just for the quality of the film.

    My Votes:
    Kurt Russell
    Haley Joel Osment
    Kiefer Sutherland
    Joe Spinell

Well folks, the first set of brackets of this tournament have come to a close. Firstly, Mr. Mullet himself, Kurt Russell, managed to skunk character actor Brian Cox in the first bracket with a score of 9-0. Cox was great in MANHUNTER, but it must have been Russell's cowboy hat that sealed the deal for most voters. :D The next three brackets however, were all very close ending up with 5-4 scores. Haley Joel Osment saw more than just dead people as voters picked him over Dracula himself. Sucks to be Gary Oldman. :D Kiefer Sutherland was literally a lost boy as Jason Miller pulled off the victory for THE EXORCIST. And finally, Joe "I still get kickbacks from THE GODFATHER" Spinell pulled off a tough victory against Kevin "You've seen my penis in every movie but THE GODFATHER" Bacon, for his performance in MANIAC.

Let's see how this next batch fares:

Also guys, I'd just like to add that discussion IS encouraged. :) It'd be nice to get some opinions and comments thrown around regarding the performances and films in question.

Which DRACULA film has your favorite Cushing performance? The bit part in A.D. was fun, but for me the first will always be the best (HORROR OF DRACULA).

Yep, some of the big ones will be eliminated quick! There's no way I'd vote for Derek over Peter Cushing!!! I like all the Hammer Dracula's, my favorites are pretty much in chronological order starting with Horror of..., then Prince of Darkness, etc.

I voted fopr Derek, partially because he's the underdog, but mainly because I just thought he was hilarious in Bad Taste. Roddy McDowell is my vote because, well, just because. I picked Kyle MacLaughlin, because I think he was truly convincing and I really felt for this guy, especially when Hopper was beating the shit out of him. As for Ken Foree, Tony Todd was good, but Ken took the cake. He really fleshed out Peter, he made it aware that Peter knew he wasn't a hero, Peter knew that him and the other three were just as bad as the thieves and criminals. Those are my explanations.

Always loved Cushing's Van Helsing in Horror Of Dracula, one of my favorite Hammer flicks.
Roddy McDowall gave one hell of a fine performance in Fright Night, same goes for Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow. Two great "anti-hero's".
Well yeah, and nothing beats mr. cool Ken Foree in Dawn Of The Dead.
