My Vote: Klaus Kinski Well, Klaus Kinski mounted an impressive showing, but in the end it was not enough to dethrone tournament favorite, Bruce Campbell. Bruce managed to advance with a closer-than-expected 6-4 victory over Nosferatu himself. Kinski's performance was one of pain and inner turmoil, and I am glad it got the recognition it deserves! Well, with only two performances remaining, to quote LOTR: "There can only be one..."
The Final Match: In the left-hand corner, John Carpenter stalwart Kurt Russell. He is known to many for his great characterizations of Snake Plissken in the ESCAPE films, Jack Burton in BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA and most recently, Eldon Perry in the classic cop drama, DARK BLUE. Kurt’s most cherished performance, and the one that has made it to the final round, is his role as RJ MacReady in THE THING. Cast in a beard and his trademark mullet, he brought about an assertive and removed performance, as a man as empty as the Antarctic skyline. Fresh from destroying Heavyweight favorite, Donald Pleasence, Kurt is ready at his shot at the title! On the right-hand side we have B-Movie icon, Bruce Campbell. He’s had great supporting roles in films like DARKMAN and THE MAJESTIC, but fans know him by only one name…Ash. Starring in the EVIL DEAD trilogy, his Ash character has grown and evolved with each passing film. He went from feeble survivor in the first film to noble hero in the second and finished off as a wisecracking know-it-all in ARMY OF DARKNESS. His Ash character is loved by cult fans all over the world, and it is the finalist in this tournament. After having just trounced Klaus Kinski, Bruce is ready with the taste of blood in his mouth! So without further ado... Kurt Russell as "RJ MacReady" in THE THING vs. Bruce Campbell as "Ash" in the EVIL DEAD films
