Carrie...even over the Dead Zone and Christine. Strangely enough.
I went with Carrie as the best adaptaion, though My Favourites are The Shinning, Christine, Carrie and the Shawshank Redemption.
also since this is for the best adaptation Sleepwalkers (what a horrible film!!!) was writen for the screen therefor was not an adaptation, as with creepshow (which was Great!).
I would recommend reading the book first--that's what I did. I enjoyed both, although the few things that they had to leave out of the film were missed.
only because you brought it up again...it's "Pet Sematary."
Jesus, talk about hard choices! Being a John Carpenter fan I went with "Christine".
Honestly, if you asked me this same question again, I'd probably come up with a different answer.
I voted for Misery altho I truely believe the best adaption is the TV mini-series of The Shining.
Having recently watched the excellent Pet Sematary, I think it's safe to say that it is one of the best King-adaptations. Since he wrote the script himself, most of the important stuff from the book is there (and some not-so-important stuff) and the film has some ultra-creepy moments as well as some ultra-gross ones too.
You're kidding right?
Who the hell puts the Nightflier in a list of SK adaptations and not The Stand, Pet Semetary, and IT?
This thread reminded me of a sweet freelance gig i had in '97/98... the production company I worked for was hired by King to make a special about his books that were turned into movies. My job? King gave me a box full of his movies on vhs and paid me by the hour to watch them and pick out the best parts. That was sweet
That sounds like an awesome job! Did you actually talk to the man?
Yeah, but not much... I was trying really hard not to seem like a fanboy. He seems really nice though.
Also got to run the fog machine for some of his Storm of the Century promos. He'd step out of the fog, give his best crazy look to the camera and say, "A storm is brewing... and it's all my fault".
He lives 2 blocks from me so I do see him around town once in a while too.
Yes, extreeeemely cool!
The Dead Zone
Carrie - no contest
