Yeah! Wham Bam No Ham!
Is that a Black Christmas MediaBook? Man, that's nice . Where can I buy that?
I'd also love to have the remake on Blu - is the Canada release the way to go despite it's the R-rated version?
Kinda scary if Anchor Bay is the one releasing this....after Silent Night Deadly Night.:nervous:
that was my expectation
I hear ya, man. I literally bought my copy on Sunday, so it would arrive in time for X-mas eve.
In the grand scheme of things though, 11 bucks isn't bad. Go see a movie at the theater (a much more likely "waste of money") and you're out even more. And you can still hit up the extras on the current disc.
After that new release comes out, if it's a major upgrade, I'll unload my existing copy on Swap-A-DVD.com. I just checked. There's 11 people on the site requesting a copy.
Thanks! That's the LaserDisc. You'd have to buy it on eBay and the cheapest I've seen it go for is $40.
As far as the 2006 remake, I'm not sure if there is a better BD out there (I know it hasn't been released on BD in the US) so the Canadian BD is probably worth getting for now despite being R rated and 1080i. If you have a HD DVD player, the US HD DVD (released in June 2007) is the Unrated cut in 1080p.
Yeah, let's hope they DON'T release it. If anybody would screw it up, it would be them. :nervous:
I really hope it went to Don May over at Synapse. Being that it's going to be a Steelbook release, that sounds like it could be Synapse. Does Anchor Bay (Canada or US) normally release Steelbooks?
Yes, AB have released some Steelbooks...but not all that many.
The Quiet Earth was an early Steelbook release from them, and I think they later re-issued some older titles like Evil Dead in Steelbook format.
Let's hope for the best.
If there's one additional extra they need to include it's this documentary. It's EXCELLENT:
The first post in the thread included a partial quote from the poster artist, Gary Pullin. It's missing the portion that mentions that the artwork had been commissioned by Anchor Bay.
Here's the full quote:
Yes, and Anchor Bay released the old Blu-ray in Canada with different artwork. It doesn't necessarily mean they'll also be releasing it in the USA this time around.
I sent a message to Don May, Jr. on his facebook page and he replied back saying he is not involved with the new Blu-ray of BC.
Then I hope it's either SF, Arrow or BU.
God, I hope it's NOT Anchor Bay. The Silent Night, Deadly Night botch job not only proves they're still clueless as fuck but also that they don't give a shit. Why bother commissioning artwork if they're more than likely just going to crap on another beloved film. Of course, all of this is speculation at this point until the final product is released but somehow I don't think they have changed their ways.
I hope it's not Anchor Bay as well, but somehow I think it is and I bet we get the same fucking disc from 2008. At the very least, if they're going to use the same transfer, they should use a 50GB disc so that the compression is reduced or eliminated.
The HD-DVD of the remake is awesome, quality wise. One of my favorite discs on the format.
Wasn't the original BD of Black Christmas suppose to come out on a single layer HD-DVD, thus the 11GB encode?
You'd think we'd be close to hearing something about this?
I'd think it's still way too early. If I had to guess, assuming this whole release is legitimate, i'd say we'd hear around mid to end of summer for an announcement.
