New series coming to the SYFY network on June 14th 2017

Stars - Alan Ritchson, Thomas Dominique, Christina Ochoa, Marama Corlet, Colin Cunningham

    13 Episodes long.

    Blood Drive

Los Angeles in the near future: where water is a scarce as oil, and climate change keeps the temperature at a cool 115 in the shade. It’s a place where crime is so rampant that only the worst violence is punished, and where Arthur Bailey — the city’s last good cop — runs afoul of the dirtiest and meanest underground car rally in the world, Blood Drive. The master of ceremonies is a vaudevillian nightmare, The drivers are homocidal deviants, and the cars run on human blood. Buckle Up, Lube Up and prepare for everything you know about Cable Television to Blow up!

    Premieres June 14 at 10/9c

This looks like a lot of fun, and definitely lots of cheese. I will give it a chance. SYFY really needs to do more shows like this.

This looks really out there. But I thought Grindhouse was great and this looks like more of that.

I watched the first episode and it was good. Better than I expected. It also has some really good twists. One with a character that I was wondering about. And it turned out to be true. And a big one at the end.

I think it's one of those edited for TV Syfy shows so I think I'm going to wait for the uncut version. There is swearing and some black bar covered nude shots that I noticed.

Meh, I gave the pilot a try and it wasn't that great. They're trying too hard to make something grindhouse-y, rather than letting it happen organically.

I agree. To me, it always feels like movies made by people with no actual first hand experience with the genres they are trying to emulate but rather working from a word-of-mouth mythologized template as they see "Grindhouse" in their own heads. That's why I consider Tarantino's Death Proof more of a success than Planet Terror: At least he was old enough to live the experience for real.

Was just about to post this! The premise seemed very familiar.

There are a couple of other films from tgeblast decade about vehicles that run on blood. Road Kill and Super Hybrid. There are probably others, too.

Blood Drive definitely seems to be inspired by this movie. It even has those black bars. I'll have to check this movie out.

That's interesting as I liked both Death Proof and Planet Terror. I don't know which I prefer. I recall someone posting that a real Grindhouse director could make tons of movies for the price they made Grindhouse.

I decided to watch the second episode and not wait and see if there will be an uncut version. It was awesome. I want a collection of these crazy named bar areas like the one in this episode and in other movies like From Dusk Till Dawn. They had a few ads and posters in this episode. I hope they release a poster or prop for sale later on.

Seen the first 2 episodes, it's enjoyable, I think the black bars are intentional, I joke too 70's censorship. Look forward to the rest of the series.

I stopped watching after the hospital insane asylum episode. I'll get the Blu-ray. I like the show. It's fun.

Given how Z Nation(SYFY most watched show) is not on Blu-ray R1(only R2) I highly doubt Blood Drive will get the Blu-ray treatment R1.

I thought just about all shows make it eventually to home video. I think they even released Helix on Blu-ray.

It's just so hit or miss with SYFY. Magicians is on Blu-ray, rightfully so imho. But Z Nation isn't. Doesn't make too much sense. So by those standards I guess Blood Drive might make Blu. :)

I need to catch up on Magicians. I stopped in the first season. That was another show that I realized was edited and I just said I'll watch it on Blu-ray.

For an edited show, they get away with a lot. They barely mute out the F word.
