Hi, I'm new to this site. I want to see Blood on Satan's Claw and Witchfinder General. I was wondering if there was a US release uncut with good sound and picture quality. I would like to find the best print before I buy! Any info would be great.

Go region 2 and get them both in nice releases from ABUK.

Most film fans should get region free players, opens your eyes up to a totally new world of cinema.

But, I do not think they have been done in region 1.

Also, welcome. Stay around. I think you'll enjoy it.

There is an outstanding UK release of BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW. This is a PAL DVD release so it probably is region 2 but it might be region free I'm not sure but either way you will need a DVD player that does PAL to NTSC conversion.

The UK release is by Anchor Bay Enterntainment but although they release titles in the USA they will not be releasing this ... due to a "copyright" issue of some sort me thinks.

There is also a UK PAL DVD of WITCHFINDER GENERAL. I don't have this DVD but I think I read that the quality of it is good. Maybe someone else can comment.

    Here are some purchase links:

    1.) BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW
    2.) WITCHFINDER GENERAL

Both of those links take you to the Xploited Cinema website. Another good source of import DVD discs is the Dialbolik DVD website.

    Good Luck :)

I also think it's because of lack of interest in the States. People would rather see American Horror in America, more so, than British Horror. Which is perfectly fine and normal.

But have you noticed that Anchor Bay Entertainment UK has released some really good titles that they have NOT released in the USA ... why is that?

They are basically the same company (as far as I know) so wouldn't it make sense for them to release a title they acquire in both the USA and UK markets? Well the answer of course is yes so why don't they? I've assumed it boils down to some sort of copyright conflict. *shrug*

I'm not sure if it's normal to not want to look beyond your backyard for entertainment. Sounds pretty closed minded to me.

Licensing issues mainly. Not all movies have the rights held by the same person/group/company in all parts of the world.

An Anchor Bay UK issued DVD doesn't always mean it will be coming to Anchor Bay USA.

Here's a comparison between the UK disc and the new French disc.
The French disc doesn't include the export cut. That's too bad because video quality is far better, in my opinion.

Note : the French disc opens with a MGM logo. I guess you can expect a US release from them... but when ?

If I'm not mistaken,THE WITCHFINDER GENERAL is under the control of MGM in America(Under the title THE CONQUEROR WORM),they have yet to release it to disc(MGM was recently bought out by Sony, wether that speeds up or slows down the release remains to be seen).I'll check into SATAN'S CLAW.The U.K. discs are generally well regarded.

Yep, I've had Alligator for about 3 years now, and still no R1 disc. Think that was even annouced on the AB site for a time.
Friday the 13th is another good example. Too bad Paramout did get the overseas rights for all the sequels, or those would have sweet un-cut versions as well. Paramount anywhere sucks just as bad as Paramount US.:fuck: They also have the US rights to Hellraiser 3 which is why we won't get that sweet set AB UK put out last year.

SATAN'S CLAW is indeed an MGM property in the States.

I don't have anything I want to trade. How much to buy them outright?

According to an article I read over at the HTF last year, Witchfinder General had been fully restored and was ready for a late 2005 DVD release from MGM before Sony took over and discarded the release.

I have the region 2 DVD of The Blood on Satan's Claw.
