Has The Prowler Bluray gone out of print? It's currently at ridiculous prices on amazon. ebay doesn't have any for sale and it's backordered at diabolik. I ordered a copy from Grindhouse Video in Tampa but I'll be curious to see if they actually have it in stock. I'm guessing it's just out of stock and the amazon prices are just one of those weird anomalies but does anyone know different? I've had it on my wishlist for some time and it's always hovered around $15 until I checked last night.
Someone is actually asking $199.00 for a new copy on Amazon. How ridiculous. I checked Amazon UK and it is available for under $30.00.
So as I mistakenly posted in the presidential election thread, according to Film Aficionado, the blu-ray of The Prowler is OOP. ~Matt
I'm pretty jazzed about Stendhal Syndrome. I have the old BU Blu, but I never got around to watching it. I remember the piss-poor reviews it got (even Rhett said on this site that the older DVD had better picture quality than the Blu), but I found it in a used record store for around 5 bucks. I don't even think I'll spin it now. I'll just get this new edition.
Yesterday the price was over $300! And all copies at Amazon UK are now up to around £60 (around $77 US.) I tried Bull Moose (thanks, gobad2003) but the site isn't working with my VPN. The Prowler is still listed on the Blue Underground site with no OUT OF PRINT notation but I have no idea how frequently they update it. I'm just wondering if this is a temporary situation and BU will print more copies or if they've lost the rights. I seem to recall their release of Stage Fright was "out of print" briefly but then they pressed more copies. I emailed them so I'll post an update if I hear anything.
Someone must have read your post for the price to have more than doubled in less than a day. Good luck finding a copy. I Did find these copies on Ebay for around $30.00. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PROWLER-VIC...785873?hash=item25c863fc91:g:3YEAAOSwKOJYJEsg
Sell sheet: Not a huge fan of this one but am kind of looking forward to revisiting it on BD, it's been years since I've seen it and I only own it on DVD.
I received a response from Blue Underground: I had a feeling this was probably the case. Glad I didn't jump to pay some outrageous price.
I was under the impression that The Prowler was one of the films that Lustig owns outright, so it being OOP struck me as odd. Although, a new edition with heftier supplements wouldn't be a bad thing.
So does that mean Stagefright is also in-between pressings? That one looks OOP as well. It's hard to find anywhere. ~Matt
Review for The Blood of Fu Manchu / The Castle of Fu Manchu Blu-ray: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film6/blu-ray_reviews_76/fu_manchu_double_feature_blu-ray.htm
I don't have either of these on DVD & was planning to pick up this Blu-ray double feature. Doesn't look like a good idea after all. Disappointing.
