Facebook update on Amsterdamned:
Weren't they going to release The Lift as well?
Yep and the remake also
Cannot wait for Amsterdamned, although I wish they used the old poster
Will these Dick Maas films be dubbed? I hope they also have original language tracks as well - I hate listening to bad dubs.

I think I'll have to revisit my old MGM DVD before deciding on an upgrade (I just don't recall thinking much of the film as a whole).
Mondo Digital reviews The Blood of Fu Manchu/The Castle of Fu Manchu double feature: http://mondo-digital.com/fumanchu.html
Review excerpt: "...the preexisting standard def masters have just been ported over here, upconverted and given a slathering of waxy noise reduction that kills much of the film grain and detail in the process. There's literally no increase in detail here whatsoever, and in fact some issues like aliasing are aggravated in the process. Playing the DVDs via upconversion actually results in a more pleasant and convincing presentation, so consider grabbing this only if you don't have the DVDs already and can find it cheap. The audio also shows no difference from the prior editions as well."
Wow, that's unfortunate... another negative review for it. I never got around to even buying the old DVD editions, but I'm now kinda glad I passed on this Blu-ray too. I would have expected BU to do a better job with these.
At least death line reviews have been good.
Another very negative review, at least for The Blood of Fu Manchu on the disc: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Blood-of-Fu-Manchu-Blu-ray/173212/#Review

They really should be honest about shit like this.
Maybe write on the back, that it's an upscale, or not bother releasing a blu-ray at all, and just re-release the DVD:s.
Edit: just checked out the screenshots on blu-ray.com
And those thick edge enhancement halos, sure is a big sign, that it's a standard def image under all that DNR.
